POSITION SUMMARY:
The Electrical Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the development and testing of control systems to allow refuse collection vehicles to collect, store and process refuse as required by the customer. This position is a working supervisor completing their own design tasks with responsibility for the supervision of a team of electrical development engineers. This position will report status of project work, maintain accurate schedules for projects, and ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner. The Supervisor must understand and apply standard engineering principles, create simulations and prototypes to evaluate preliminary designs, and test how the system operates compared to project scope. The Supervisor will monitor quality of product design release from engineering.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Management, preparing, and assigning work tasks as well as weekly management updates on project status.
- Reviewing drawings for quality and accuracy per engineering standards prior to production release.
- Responsible for controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and production start-up assistance.
- Supporting development of PLC programs for unit operation and HMI controls to operate the products.
- Assure design compliance with all applicable government safety and environmental standards as they pertain to motor vehicles or heavy-duty trucks.
- Utilization of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in design, programming, and troubleshooting of development projects.
- Simultaneously organizing and successfully executing multiple project responsibilities.
- 20%-25% travel is required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical degree or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of electrical development experience with at least 1-3 years of Supervision experience.
- Experience in: Testing and Developing PLC logic from concept to operational use with any of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, AutomationDirect, Mitsubishi, Omron, Aromat, Toshiba, HMI or SCADA programming and configuration of any of the following software packages Wonderware, Rockwell, Intellution, GE Cimplicity, Ci-Tech, Iconics, Siemens, US Data, etc. or other mobile-equipment controller such as Vasso, HED, I/O Controls, EcoMat, etc.
- Experience with: CODESYS, IEC 61131-3, MATLAB Simulink, Model Based Development, CAN Diagnostic Tools, CAN Bus, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, Industrial Ethernet, CANOpen, J1939, PROFIBUS, DeviceNet and/or other RS485 Networks.
- Design and development of Control System applications including generating PLC logic or other mobile controller platforms.
- Wiring schematic design capabilities.
- Willingness and ability to servce as a technical mentor and to direct reports.
- Demonstrated work experience requiring multi-tasking capabilities in a “fast paced” work environment.
- Must be a self-starter, fast paced, but still highly detailed and accurate.
