Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer with hands-on experience working with electrical vehicles and batteries? We are currently hiring an Electrical Engineer for our Revamp product line, the first 100% electric on-route refuse body with its own independent battery. As the Electrical Engineer, create and execute design changes of varying degrees of complexity by ensuring that performance parameters are met while meeting quality target. This position is responsible for creation and maintenance of product designs. Primary duties include assisting in the completion of engineering design projects, production support, troubleshooting, and continuous design improvements.
What you’ll get to do:
- Apply and demonstrate engineering design best practices and value engineering during project development.
- Review and approve electrical design standards and specifications.
- Ensure design in compliance with design criteria, standards and specifications as well as local codes and regulations.
- Ensure procurement packages are in compliance with design criteria, standards and specifications.
- Develop, implement, and maintain design standards, guides, and procedures.
- Review ECRs, ECOs, and Custom orders for accuracy and respond to NCRs (Non-Compliance Reports).
- Communicate change orders and execute change management processes.
- Support operator and maintenance training and provide technical support for daily plant operations by assuring that product performance parameters are met.
- Supervise supplier design and control of supplier interface and the co-ordination of interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, cost, and overall customer value.
- Lead and complete continuous improvement design projects.
- Act as a key point of feedback for engineering processes and standards to assure that world class warranty levels are achieved.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineers, and suppliers to drive prioritization and resolution of technical issues.
- Travel up to 15% and maintain a flexible work schedule during critical stages of development projects.
What you’ll need to be successful:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; or related degree and experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years; experience required; preferably working with electric vehicles
- 2+ years of engineering experience in the electrical engineering disciplines in a heavy manufacturing environment by employing DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly).
- Working knowledge of FMVSS and ANSI rules pertaining to Electrical Systems and Vehicle Design.
- Working knowledge of SAE practices related to J1939 and J1455 recommended practices.
- Strong working experience with common programming tools such as Programmable Controllers, Embedded Controllers and CodeSys.
- Experience within the Mining Equipment, Heavy Construction Equipment or other related industries will be given special consideration.
- Experience in the design and application of Robotics, Advanced Hydraulics, and Controls Systems is heavily desired.
- Proven track record of employing a product development process and project management skills to lead a cross-functional team in the execution and launch of design changes.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and employ a process such as 6-Sigma or another structured method to solve complex problems.
- Demonstrate work experience requiring multi-tasking capabilities in a “fast paced” work environment.
- Self-starter and fast paced but still highly detailed and accurate with project management capabilities such as being goal oriented while being able to identify high priority, critical path tasks.
- Results oriented focus with a high level of accountability.
