Are you a self-driven, results-oriented, and collaborative individual with experience leading projects within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment? We are hiring a Project/Program Manager to provide project support within our Fort Payne, AL facility. As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects and programs including the planning, design, budget, etc. You will assist in long-range project planning and work collaboratively with all functions across the facility. Qualified candidates must have large scale project management experience with an engineering mindset and ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings.

 

       Key Job Functions:

  • Assist with aligning site improvement plans through participation in project idea generation, selection, scoping, aligning metrics and project execution.
  • Determine project specifications and acquire the necessary materials and contractors for completion.
  • Develop scope and parameters for project design and implementation.
  • Identify project responsibilities, delegating phases and elements to the appropriate personnel.
  • Develop and control the full project-plan lifecycle.  
  • Inform supervisors and subcontractors of any schedule changes and work closely with all stakeholders to ensure requirements are met.
  • Oversee budgetary, scheduling, and project databases, and report regularly on progress as well as any problems that could significantly affect cost or schedule.
  • Manage compliance with standards and specifications for quality control and assurance
  • Act as change agent committed to accelerating process improvements with the aim of supporting the business
  • Successfully manage project timeline, resources and deliverables and regularly provide project status updates to stakeholders and team members.
  • Evaluate and support all required EHS training and assist in safety talks with supervisors and team members.
  • Conduct the activities of daily walkthrough inspections, audits, task evaluations, testing, training, briefings and reporting of performance measures.
  • Use a hands-on approach to help assure organizational compliance of applicable OSHA and EPA federal, state, local and corporate safety, health and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Identification of health and safety hazards and controls to mitigate risks; management of Federal and State occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Create a culture of injury-free attitudes within the plant team by demonstrating honest, genuine care and passion for safety. 
  • Participate in new product and process reviews including process hazard analyses, Operator Training, etc.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred but will consider experience in lieu of education
  • 3+ years’ experience managing large-scale projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple high impact projects; short and long term goal planning.
  • Must have knowledge/experience in the principles, methods, and techniques of engineering and protecting quality of resources and the environment. 
  • Experience directing and managing large projects and influencing, coaching, driving and managing change with demonstrated Continuous Improvement responsibility.
  • Exposure or experience dealing with regulatory agencies, i.e., OSHA, EPA is helpful but not required.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and project management software.
  • Experience working as a participatory member of a companywide program with defined broad objectives and applying them locally in applicable methods.
  • Ability to effectively deal with other people, especially other company personnel, to enlist needed cooperation in implementing regulatory requirements.

 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Background or skills associated with electrical and mechanical technology, construction, electronics, etc.
  • Certified Safety Professional, Registered Environmental Manager, Lean Practitioner, Six Sigma Blackbelt or willingness to obtain certifications.
  • High level of integrity, strong initiative, ability to get agreement/buy-in, and a team-oriented work ethic.
  • Solid analytics and understanding of financial statement analysis and financial modeling.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced matrix environment, multi-task and prioritize work based on business needs.
  • Ability to use systematic, disciplined and data driven methods that get to root causes, in order to solve problems and analyze and improve processes.
