Shift: Weekend, Core schedule is 3 days - 12hr shifts, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

 

Position Summary: 

The Fixturing Technician II ensures jigs function appropriately with complex angles or contours. Assembles a variety of standard and non-standard major jigs, fixtures, and related tooling. Being a Fixturing Technician designs and creates jig and fixture details and holding devices. Responsible for determining methods and sequence of operations and scheduling work to be performed from tool design drawings. In addition, Fixturing Technician may be required to verify accuracy and quality in accordance with established control procedures.

 

Requires a High School Diploma in a related area with certification in the field. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Working as a Fixturing Technician typically requires 3-5 years of related experience. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.

 

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Read blueprints and sketches or computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) files.
  2. Set up, operate, and disassemble CNC and manual Mills, CNC and manual Lathes, CNC plasmas, grinders, metals saws and other machine shop tools and equipment.
  3. Weld and cut metal structures.
  4. Assemble and fabricate new tooling and new fixtures from blueprints.
  5. Inspect and test tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  6. Develop plan of action to manufacture tooling and fixtures to specifications.
  7. Take precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
  8. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  9. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  10. 5% to 10% travel may be required at times for this position.

 

Requirements:

 

  1. Requires a High School Diploma in a related area with certification in the field.
  2. Requires 3-5 years of related experience.
  3. Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
  4. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
  5. GD&T knowledge.
  6. CNC programming.
  7. Welding experience.
  8. Be proficient in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  9. Ability to read blueprints.
  10. Skills and experience with conventional machine shop tools and equipment.

 

Requirements:

Education:  Requires a High School diploma or GED.

Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions, lists and billing materials; use PC based applications, including Mainstar, Outlook, and Microsoft Office, knowledge normally acquired through high school or equivalent experience.

Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery approximately 50% of time.

Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 70%, lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 15% of time; involves repetitive overhead work approximately 10% of time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 5% of time.

Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate all manufacturing equipment, meters, chains hoists, automatic drills, and general hand tools and to record written information.

Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.

Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color and depth perception required.

Environmental: Involves exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
