The CI Coordinator is accountable for executing Waukesha Bearings’ Lean CI initiatives, which will result in a significant impact to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity. (SQDIP)

The CI Coordinator will provide training, expertise and direction for improvement activities to support the business goals and objectives at plant level. They will also work closely with their Lean counterparts throughout DPC and Departmental Managers, as well as cross-functional teams, in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective operational/business solutions for all aspects of the plant.
 

The CI Coordinator will promote, educate and instil a culture of waste identification, throughout both the manufacturing and office functions, by utilizing Lean concepts and principles of CI. 
The incumbent will demonstrate a strong, active, and participative style to provide leadership in the strategy and execution of lean processes within a manufacturing engineering environment.
They will engage with the various functions to assess and deploy the appropriate CI tools & techniques to establish robust processes that will promote Waukesha’s Lean vision and drive and influence a mindset of CI throughout the business. 

 

The responsibilities of this position fall into four main areas: training, reporting, communication and delivery.

 

Training

 

•    Deliver improvement methods and tools for site management and teams. This includes the Waukesha Lean Management System, which includes Quality Improvement FPO, Kaizen, A3/A4, Problem Solving and Standard Work Mechanisms.

•    Implement CI best practices across the plant/functional areas and share through the organisation.

•    Teach problem solving skills to all employees and promote the use of problem solving tools throughout the site and demonstrate the effectiveness of CI through the practical use of problem solving.

•    Coach and train Managers in the requirement of the Dover OpEx model.


Reporting

 

•    Planning, implementing and tracking local CI Kaizen activity, specifically achieving the targeted business objectives as identified by the Organisation.

•    Track individuals CI development and provide updates on skill progression, understanding and application.

•    Report KPI’s within the Lean Management System and offer guidance and support on gap closure.

•    Report on Dover OpEx progression and future plans.

 

Communication

 

•    Communicate monthly productivity and CI results to plant/functional management and corporate CI team.

•    Communicate Lean CI vision to plant/functional leaders and implement Lean CI strategy at plant/functional/shop floor levels.

•    Capture and promote best practice and share achievements with our sister plants throughout the organisation.

•    Communicate Dover OpEx progression to the plant leadership team and participate in DPC level updates.

 

Delivery

 

•    Develop and co-own CI roadmap to improve flow of material and transaction (targeting lead time reduction).

•    Execute CI roadmap within the site. Participate/teach/lead the deployment of design for flow Lean tools.

•    Work towards the standardization and sharing of best practice across the organisation.

•    Work towards delivering and retaining Dover OpEx standards – Driving Change, Overcoming Adversity, Victorious, Excelling and Role Model.

 

Internal Customer Support and Interface

•    Provide cross-collaboration team support to develop other areas of the business products.

•    Create partnerships with all departments within the organisation.

 

Skills and Experience:

•    Proven experience in managing, motivating and influencing team behaviours.
•    Experience of collecting and analysing ‘voice of the customer’ data to create and enhance customer value.
•    Experience of CI/Lean methodologies within both manufacturing and service.
•    Must be highly self-motivated and driven.
•    3+ years of operations/production experience with demonstrated process improvement experiences.
•    2+ years of experience of leading Kaizen and deploying Lean tools and principles.
•    The ability to coordinate and lead successful cross-functional improvements is necessary, in additional to possessing superior written and presentation skills.
•    Working experiences with functional leaders to establish and execute CI roadmap to deliver baseline results.
•    Proficient in all Microsoft suite packages.
•    Track record of having managed and facilitated change.
•    Led 20+ Kaizen events.

 

Qualifications:

•    Degree in Engineering or relevant discipline, Operations Management or Business Administration.
•    Relevant Lean CI qualification earned within an Engineering field, or a related field.
•    SME/AME/ASQ/Shingo Prizes Lean Certification or other Lean Six Sigma Certification.
