Design and Manufacturing Engineer

Working for Dover Precision Components, as a Design & Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for the design engineering of the Inpro-Seal product range using CAD (SolidWorks). Creating 3D models and 2D drawings, tolerancing according to design standards. You will work closely with the sales team, distributors and customers to understand and interpret design requirements and create designs that meet those requirements. You will also perform checking duties related to assembly and component drawings, part structures (BOM’s) and item specific information for accuracy of design intent and application specification information. Additional duties may include programming CNC machines using CAM software, participating in and contributing to process improvement and design for manufacturability activities as well as in the development and implementation of company-wide design standards and practices that reflect industry best practices and improved efficiency.

You will be based at the main European manufacturing facility in Polmadie, Glasgow, where we utilise a broad range of multi-axis milling and turning centres and associated equipment to produce a varied mix of customised fluid-film bearings, isolators and seals for typical applications in turbo and industrial rotating machinery, supplying customers throughout Europe and further afield.

What You Will Bring

• HNC/D or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar (Industrial Product Design, Aerospace, etc.)
• We would also be interested in candidate’s who have developed from an apprentice trained CNC Machinist background
• A minimum of 2 years of full-time, relevant experience, working within an engineered product environment, preferably in the manufacturing of rotating equipment, such as turbines, pumps, compressors, generators, motors, gearboxes, or components thereof.
• An established ability to operate 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) Product Design
• Strong understanding of Engineering Principles and Design Practices
• Demonstrated ability to apply continuous improvement techniques to existing processes and procedures
• Strong computer skills and attention to detail with experience of; Microsoft Office 365, ERP Systems and ID Software
• Must be familiar with the impact of the manufacturing process on the key factors that control the form, fit and function

What You Will Do

• Design bearing isolators and other Inpro-Seal products to fulfil customer requirement including on time delivery
• Analyse information received from customers and utilise CAD software (SolidWorks) to create 3D designs
• Create and complete 2D drawings for quoting purposes and for manufacturing
• Collaborate with customers, distributors, and manufacturing personnel to clarify design requirements and create solutions through the design process
• Attend customer sites to assist Regional Managers and distributors on equipment measurement
• Participate in CI activities to drive department efficiencies
