Position Summary: PSG is a global leader in manufacturing pumps, systems, and related flow-control solutions for the safe, efficient, and reliable transfer of critical and valuable materials, and recruits outstanding candidates capable of turning ideas and strategies into world-class results.  This position will support the Grand Rapids, Michigan, facility, which manufactures Blackmer products.  The IAS Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the transactions for material movement and cycle counts are accurate, that material movement is timely to support production, and for providing work direction and management for the IAS, Receiving, and Dock employees.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of Inventory Accuracy Specialists and Material Handlers engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering materials, supplies, and equipment to achieve daily Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity objectives. 
  •         Provides guidance and work direction to the Inventory Control Supervisor to ensure a balanced workload for IAS employees and adherence to processes and procedures.
  •         Performance Management: Accomplish objectives by communicating job expectations to employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; holding direct reports accountable for their performance; coaching and performance management of employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  •         Manage timecards and attendance points for direct reports promptly.
  •         Work with Union Stewards and human resources to ensure communication and employee issues are addressed.
  •         Provide daily production reporting on time.
  •         Conduct Tier 1 Meetings with employees to review metrics, safety, and provide daily direction.
  • Ensure all direct reports consistently use ERP, work instructions, and quality systems.
  • Provide effective communication to supervisors on other shifts.
  • Notify IT, maintenance, and management of any downtimes promptly.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments, including Engineering, Sales, Customer Care, Finance, and Supply Chain.
  • Facilitate/participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Prepare reports and discuss with management the status of departmental and/or individual metrics, workload, and current projects.
  • Assist in setting standards, work methods, and processes, and prepare detailed work instructions per ISO standards.
  • Maintain a qualified workforce at the proper level to meet job requirements.
  • Initiate and facilitate Safety improvement activities, including but not limited to PPE, forklift and hi-low training and certification, storage rack safety, dock safety, and material movement safety
  • Train employees and maintain training matrix; lead 30-60-90-day reviews for new employees.
  • Manage the following processes, including physical counts, material movements, and ERP system transactions:

- Inventory control process.

- Cycle count program.

- Physical inventory process.

- Obsolescence and disposal processes. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to covering other manufacturing areas and shifts as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years of experience supervising employees in a unionized manufacturing environment
  • Oracle experience is highly preferred
  • Excellent Supervisory skills; must be able to plan, organize, and schedule work among employees; prepare and evaluate department records and reports; communicate effectively with employees, management staff, and all other departments, as necessary.
  • Experience with Lean implementations.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel and Word.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with working within an ISO regulated business is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and perform in a dynamic environment while maintaining a positive attitude and energy.
  • Strong team player, good work ethic, and ability to be flexible and work within a collaborative team environment to meet production and company needs.
