Summary: Leads and coordinates activities of personnel in shipping, receiving, material handling, and inventory control to ensure accurate inventory and on-time delivery to customers.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.


  1. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to logistics, material handling, and inventory control
  • Manage the receiving process (domestic and international)
  • Manage inventory control process
  • Manage cycle count program
  • Manage physical inventory process
  • Manage obsolescence process and disposal
  • Initiate and assist in continuous improvement activities to improve material flow throughout the plant and supply chain.
  • Leads 5S and continuous improvement activities


  1. Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of Inventory Accuracy Specialists and Material Handlers engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering materials, supplies and equipment.


  1. Arranges for disposal of surplus and obsolete materials.


  1. Must be very customer oriented; understanding both the needs of Internal and External customers.


Leadership Responsibilities: Manages IAS, and material handling personnel.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Professional Qualifications:


  • College degree preferably in Integrated Supply Management or Logistics program
  • Consideration may be given to candidates with extensive work experience
  • Broad knowledge of Logistics and inventory control processes
  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities, able to prioritize and mange different projects concurrently
  • Committed to continuing education of best practices
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office programs, ERP, On-line tracking)
  • Excellent people skills and adaptable to change.  Must be a “Team player”


Education and/or Experience:  Requires 2-4 years production experience.  Some college is highly desirable.  Computer literacy and exposure to Lean Manufacturing Principles a plus.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be a good communicator and willing to interact with multiple groups in the organization.  Must share information, lead people, and encourage self-management to the employees.


  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and deal with problems involving several variables plus root cause the issue so it does not occur again.


  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 


  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


  • System Thinker – must possess the ability to look how decisions effect both up stream and downstream operations to find “long-term” solutions to problems.


Computer Skills is a must. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
