Position Summary: Associate product manager is responsible for supporting product management activities for the Wilden Brand. This individual will work closely with the Product Manager, all functional areas within the business, channel partners and customers to ensure Wilden maintains its market leadership.  They will be relied upon to support key initiatives in NPD, channel development, product line consolidation and

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Offer product support to the channel as needed. Perform some technical sales support and troubleshooting for distributors and end users.
    • Product Support: Provide sales, customer and channel partners with support, information and materials to learn about products and applications including content for local universities.
    • Build and maintain effective distributor and customer relationships through product support activities
  • Support Product Manager in driving customer and market centricity focus in the organization
    • Customer and market centricity: Maintain market focus by regular contact with customers, sales and marketing. This includes responsibility for conducting distributor and end user training. Work closely with PSG sales management to provide forums to interact with distributor organizations in identifying growth opportunities and new product development ideas.
  • Assist in developing market knowledge using both first-hand (customers/distributor feedback) and second-hand (internet/market studies) sources
    • Market knowledge can include:  library of market segments and applications and what products are required to be successful in these areas; Market size, growth and opportunity for each segment; Wilden share and position in the market and develop plans to secure or grow position; Competitor analysis including SWOT, pricing, features and product breadth comparison; Market drivers and customer buying patterns.
  • Support Product Manager in creating product positioning statements for each product line
    • Product Positioning: clearly identify target customers and market, primary benefits and value proposition of a product.
  • Conduct voice-of-customer (VOC) activities related
    • VOC: Perform regular VOC to identify market trends, market drivers, customer satisfaction levels, needs and buying behaviors
  • Support development of product and market analysis for NPD and product portfolio programs including obsolescence, line extensions, innovation and product life cycle.
  • Manage discount requests through portal system including margin checking, portal approval and follow-up with RM’s if necessary.
  • Work with PSG sales to monitor and manage distributor contracts taking into account usage, margin, price increases, etc
  • Participate in the creation of growth plans for Wilden product offering
  • Performs special projects and all other duties as assigned by the Product Manager
  • Must be knowledgeable of, and comply with the Company’s policies and procedures
  • Coach others and demonstrates commitment to safety & continual improvement of OH&S performance, registered standards, company policy, integrity, ethics and legal compliance.
  • Must develop knowledge of products in detail including the operating principles, and performance characteristics as well as developing knowledge of common industries and applications where the product is used.
  • Travel when necessary. Maintain records necessary for effective planning.
    • Travel might be required for key initiatives related to Voice-of-customer research, customer training, NPD and trade shows.
