Summary:

The Buyer Planner will be responsible for materials resource planning and procurement of specialized items in addition to executing complex buying strategies in accordance with agreed upon material buying plans at the optimum cost/quality relationship.

Education: High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree, Operations or Business, preferred

Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience in purchasing, and supplier management or planning
  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • APICS/CPP certification a plus

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of Supply Chain processes and Quality Control Principles
  • Previous experience in Supplier Negotiation.
  • Previous Experience in Oracle or SAP MRP II environment.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Strong knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning), CRP (Continuous Replenishment Program) and MPS (Master Production Schedules).
  • Experience with lean concepts/tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kanban and Kaizen
  • Understanding of production flow principles and processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with many levels and types of people
  • Good written, oral and presentation skills(communication)
  • Strong Project Management Skills

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the performance of an assigned group of suppliers and initiate the timely release of purchase orders for production materials, R&D Projects, Project Redesigns
  • Supplier relationship management - Manage supplier performance using leading metrics such as PPV, Supplier OTD and Supplier Quality.
  • Material Requirements Planning - Analyze current orders, historical data, and other records to determine the best source and Setting for Oracle MRP replenishment requirements.
  • ABC analysis, Safety stock management, Product life cycle management, Economic order quantity management, PFEP (Plan for Every Part)
  • Maintain an adequate inventory level/supply of assigned commodities to ensure On Time Delivery to our customer is met.
  • Supplier Payment Management – Ensure invoices are accurate, correct discrepancies, and work with accounting to ensure payments are made on time
  • Scheduling planning techniques - Constant communication with suppliers negotiating reduced Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs), smaller more frequent orders to be placed offsetting long-term risks and a risk assessment regularly monitored
  • Accurate demand forecasting and purchasing practices can support operations’ strategic goals of ordering enough to meet ongoing customer demand while not carrying too much extra inventory to keep costs under control
  • Reduce excess incoming inventory by continually reviewing inventory reports. Maximize the value of each purchase consistently with the Company's requirements and policies to achieve balance between function, productivity, quality and other terms with suppliers and various internal departments.
  • Resolve problems related to selection of source, price, deliveries, specifications, quality and other terms with suppliers and various internal departments.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Work Environment: The environment is primarily in a climate-controlled office setting. At times, this position may need to be in the production or warehouse areas. The manufacturing/warehouse environment is subject to moderate changes in temperature, and the employee will be exposed to typical hazards of noise, flying debris, and overhead hazards requiring the use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Work Arrangement : Hybrid

Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 annually

This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
