The Cost Accountant will be responsible for establishing and maintaining accurate cost records, performing all accounting functions in order to accurately and timely process, transact, and report the needed financial data to the Plant Controller. Maintain records for fixed assets.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance of cost control systems within Oracle including; Resource and Overhead rates, material cost changes, Routing and BOM change rollups.
  • Produce various daily and monthly operations analysis reports and provide insightful commentary when necessary.
  • Perform various monthly variance analyses between actual and standard costs and generate KPIs
  • Assist in the month end close by closing out inventory, running reports and preparing specific account reconciliations and carry forward schedules.
  • Maintain tracking of Approved Capital Requests, Construction in Process and annual verification of Fixed Assets.
  • Assist Plant Controller with other activities related to the monthly financial close process.
  • Provide cost analysis and reporting to assist senior management in decision making or other financial initiatives.
  • Monitor cycle count activity, audit actual counts and participate in monthly performance meetings.
  • Monitor and comment on inventory levels and fluctuations by product line
  • Timely preparation and filing of property tax returns, sales & use tax and other government reports as necessary.
  • Assist in the development of the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Establish new standard costs on an annual basis.
  • Work with Dover Business Services (Shared Services) as needed to assure proper reporting of financial records.
  • Assist the Director of Finance and Plant Controller with year-end (or as required) physical inventory reconciliation, control, and procedures.
  • Other projects as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Requires 2 years of experience within a manufacturing environment
  • This position is based in Hamilton, Ohio.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Management Accountant
  • Experienced in Oracle ERP system
  • Able to interact well with all levels of management and shop floor.
  • Able to develop strong analytical skills as it relates to the accuracy of cost functions
  • Disciplined work ethic, detail oriented and well organized
  • Team-player
  • Above average written and oral communication skills in English
  • Follow instructions, problem solve and prioritize work
  • Accurately follow checklists to ensure timeliness and accuracy of work
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
