We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Director, Information Technology, reporting to the OPW Chief Financial Officer.  This position will have dotted-line responsibility to the Dover VP of IT, aligning Dover’s global IT strategy to OPW’s global footprint.


Job Summary:

Responsible for defining and executing the long-term information technology strategy to support OPW’s business objectives while aligning to Dover corporate standards and platforms.  Create a vision for the IT function within OPW, design the IT organization model, and align talent to support.  Orchestrate governance and company resources to support transformational initiatives in digital and back office operations.  Partner with corporate shared services to deliver high quality IT support to OPW users.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, vision, and management to the OPW IT organization in a matrixed environment.
  • Be an active member of the OPW leadership team, provide input into strategic planning, align technology objectives, and execute supporting initiatives.
  • Deliver on strategic business objectives through the application of technology and process improvement, leveraging Dover shared services and Centers of Excellence where required to succeed.
  • Drive annual planning and budgeting for OPW technology investments and IT operations
  • Consolidate a comprehensive vision for the OPW Digital roadmap, integrating existing plans with future initiatives to support business growth objectives.
  • Develop a global program governance model to prioritize technology initiatives, allocate limited resources, and foster successful execution.
  • Update OPW IT support processes to fully leverage Dover shared services to provide high quality support for OPW users.  Serve as the ultimate escalation point for IT issues and service delivery.  Hold shared service organizations accountable to perform in line with committed service levels.
  • Serve as a key change agent within the OPW business, advocating for new technology solutions, supporting operational readiness, and facilitating clear communication and alignment between cross-functional teams.
  • Manage the IT function effectively through an ever changing environment, ensuring processes and skills are adapted to evolving technology and business requirements.
  • In partnership with Dover IT, work with supplier-partners (TCS, HCL, Microsoft and other Dover partners) to understand evolving technology and recommend upgrades, enhancements, and new modules for the global systems environment.
    • Identify and execute continuous process improvement initiatives that deliver bottom line financial improvements for OPW.  Drive standardization across the OPW business where best practices can improve cost, quality, and performance.
    • Work with Internal Audit, Dover Cyber Security, and Dover IT to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect systems and information.
    • Oversee systems and procedures required to ensure business continuity in the event of natural disasters, system failures, and other events which could disrupt OPW operations.
    • Define a future OPW IT organization required to support the company’s growth and business objectives.  Source and develop talent as required to support the target organization.
  • Influence others at all levels of the organization through collaboration and active communication.
    • Oversee technology due diligence and integration of acquisitions, and the separation of divestitures.


Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or other related field; Master’s degree preferred.



Accomplished IT leader with seven to ten years of progressive experience in Information technology and a minimum of four years IT leadership/management experience.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience with strong leadership skills in a global, matrixed environment
  • Experience in a global business context with manufacturing, sales, engineering, marketing and finance
  • Strong IT and Applications background with a focus on ERP implementations and support
  • Oracle ERP experience, preferred
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to drive and lead change collaboratively in a matrixed environment
  • Broad knowledge of information technology processing systems, concepts, and methodologies
  • General knowledge of IT infrastructure: LAN/WAN, Infrastructure Architecture, Firewalls, Security
  • General knowledge of Windows & Linux clients and server technologies, including virtualization
  • Highly service-oriented; reliable, responsible, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff
  • Travel 15 – 50% per month



PMP, Lean / Six-Sigma certification a plus.


Physical Requirements:

• Periodic on-call availability.

• Sitting for extended periods of time.

• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components.

• Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
