Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing to lead our procurement operations for our mid-sized machine assembly business in the serialization industry. This role will be instrumental in developing and executing sourcing strategies that support our manufacturing objectives while managing supplier relationships and driving cost optimization initiatives. Reporting directly to the Head of Manufacturing, you will lead a team of 2 sourcing professionals and serve as a key partner in our operational success.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
- Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies aligned with manufacturing goals and business objectives
- Lead category management for critical components including mechanical parts, electronics and serialization-specific hardware
- Be a critical contributor to the S&OP process, aligning and optimizing the sales driven demand with inventory and production planning
- Conduct market analysis and supplier assessments to identify sourcing opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve optimal total cost structure
Supplier Management
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and manufacturing partners
- Implement supplier performance metrics and conduct regular business reviews
- Lead supplier development initiatives to improve quality, delivery, and cost performance
- Manage supplier qualification processes ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements relevant to our equipment
- Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to ensure business continuity
Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 2 sourcing professionals
- Set clear performance objectives and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
- Foster a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement
- Build team capabilities in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationship management
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Product & Export Compliance and Finance teams to support product development and production requirements
- Participate in new product development (NPD) processes to ensure sourcing readiness
- Collaborate with Manufacturing leadership on capacity planning and material availability
- Support cost reduction / productivity initiatives
Operational Excellence
- Manage procurement budgets and track savings initiatives
- Implement and optimize sourcing processes, tools, and systems
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and Dover sourcing standards
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement cycle times and operational efficiency
- Maintain accurate data and reporting on supplier performance, spend analytics, and market trends
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, with at least 2 years in a management role
- Proven experience in manufacturing environments, preferably in capital equipment, machine assembly, or precision manufacturing
- Demonstrated success in managing complex supplier relationships and negotiations
- Strong analytical skills with experience in spend analysis, cost modeling, and supplier score-carding
- Experience leading and developing procurement teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the serialization, track-and-trace, pharmaceutical packaging, or medical device industries
- Knowledge of serialization equipment components and industry standards (GS1, EU FMD, DSCSA)
- Professional international certification or domestic equivalents to CPSM, CSCP, or CPM
- Familiarity with Sage and NetSuite (ERP systems) and e-procurement platforms
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
