Summary:

Sets up and operates computer numerically controlled machines to perform machining operations by performing the following duties.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Read, process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements
  • Wire EDM Set Up/ Operator/ Programmer key responsibilities:
      • Plan, coordinate, program, set up and complete wire EDM machining related activities for each project
      • Set up/Conduct offset adjustments/Change-overs for wire EDM jobs
      • Perform general machine operation functions
      • Set up and program new wire EDM jobs
  • Ability to completely setup and run all CNC milling equipment
      • Write programs using Gibbs CAM.
      • Program/Edit CNC Mills.
      • Ability to setup machine to mill at complex angles, for rotary milling, indexing
  • Looked to as a leader in the facility, frequently has continues improvement ideas and tries to increase morale in the shop by having a positive attitude 
  • Interpret work instructions.
  • Identify, select and install proper tooling for operations being performed.
  • Calculate proper feeds and speeds for a variety of steel grades, copper, brass, aluminum and bronze
  • Read, understand, edit or write complete programs.
  • Intuitively understand capabilities of tooling and machinery.
  • Understand applicable quality systems and perform necessary quality inspections.
  • Adhere to all Waukesha Bearings policies and procedures.
  • Apply principles of Lean Manufacturing to reduced setup times and improve productivity.
  • Actively participate in daily Continuous Improvement activities
  • Employee must be able to set up all necessary measuring equipment and routinely check the calibration of the equipment while measuring.
  • Create and maintain a team focused work environment.
  • Operating/programming EDM and CNC Mill Machines. 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years of trade school or equivalent experience
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Experience machining finish-grade components to tight tolerances
