Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for the moving partially finished, or finished products physically and making inventory move transactions in the Syteline ERP system under given direction and guidelines. This position is responsible for issuing material to the jobs, conducting cycle counting, ensuring inventory location accuracy, overall inventory accuracy and other assigned transactional duties. In addition, this position may be asked to assist with shipping, packing, labeling, in process material operations and performing the following duties:
Responsibilities:
- Participate in all plant safety initiatives, report potentially unsafe conditions, and abide by corporate and local policies.
- Actively engage in lean manufacturing principles and techniques. This includes, but is not limited to, actively participating in kaizen events, 5S activities, and continuously seeking improvement in the work area.
- Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, inventory, and cycle count to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
- Unloading, moving and storing materials
- Utilizing manual lifts, reach trucks and transfer equipment (requires applicable safety and operational training)
- Storing and stacking materials according to company standards
- Identifying and verifying parts
- Other duties, as assigned
Minimum required qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Required to operate a forklift; must have a valid state license.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds throughout the day.
The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, skills, and abilities:
- Preferred 2+ years of shop and/or warehouse experience
- An ability to use machines and software to track inventory
- Strong organizational and time management skills are critical.
- Material handlers must be able to process and follow written and spoken instructions.
- Listens and gets clarification.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently.
- Approaches others in a tactful manner; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
Mental/Visual/Physical Effort:
- Walks, stands, reaches, and bends frequently.
- Have strength and stamina to on your feet and lift packages, up to 30 pounds, throughout the day
- Possesses good hand/eye coordination.
Physical Hazards:
- Minimal exposure to severe accidents.
- Normal operations require eye protection.
- Additional safety equipment may be required.
Material Hazards:
- Illness or injury from materials present in normal working environment is unlikely.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to normal machine shop environment with periodic noise.
- Limited disagreeable factors present.
