Senior Product Development Engineer

As a Product Development Engineer at Dover Precision Components, you will be responsible for designing, testing and developing new products for fluid-film bearing applications, as well as providing technical leadership in the development of an evolving product technology roadmap. You will also provide technical leadership to a wider group of highly skilled engineers and scientists.
This is a hybrid working role, with 3 days per week based at our Innovation Center and main manufacturing facility in Pearland, TX 77047.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related subject combined with over 5 years of full-time, post-graduate work experience in New Product Development of components for rotating equipment or turbomachinery
- A Master's degree is highly preferred and will reduce the level of professional work experience required. Similarly, a PhD with graduate work in fluid film bearings will be considered without requirement of professional experience
- Established experience in the design, engineering and development of bearings, mechanical and or gas seals or other driveline components
- Experience related to wind turbine applications will also be of benefit
- Strong skills in advanced engineering analysis and tools to solve complex problems
- Previous hands-on experience and willingness to work with heavy machinery, compressors and other complex test equipment
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with specialized design and simulation software
- A high level of attention to detail and skills/discipline to resolve complex technical problems systematically
- Demonstrated ability to create new product ideas and develop solutions, and utilize a systematic approach in all stages between concept generation and product launch
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Must be familiar with the impact of the manufacturing processes and materials on the key factors that control the form, fit, and function of a bearing assembly
- Previous experience in a lead role for highly technical teams highly preferred
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- By understanding the needs of the rotating equipment market, you will identify new application areas for both our existing and new products, creating innovative ideas and solutions to address these needs
- Lead highly complex technical development projects related to engineered fluid film bearings and contributes by designing new product prototypes and test set-ups, executing experiments, analyzing data and results, and reporting outcomes out to a cross-functional team, with minimal supervision
- Maintain conformance to Stage & Gate Process at all stages of development projects
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, applications engineering and sales teams as needed
- Ensure protection of newly generated intellectual property (IP)
- Participate in joint development projects with external partners, provides technical expertise
- Participate in key customer visits, team meetings, and activities related to engineering/technical elements of various programs
- Assist in research and development projects managed by other development engineers as needed
- Assure conformance of new products to requirements, including but not limited to, customer, regulatory, and safety requirements
- Attend and present at technical conferences, tracking trends and developments within the industry
- Participate in and contribute to process improvement and design for manufacturability activities
- Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals as needed
- Provide support to Innovation Lab personnel, including hands-on activities on complex test equipment, such as compressors or bearing test rigs
- Be independently responsible for meeting deadlines necessary to support the company’s commitments to customers and stakeholders
