System Engineer

The Role:
Reporting to the Product Division Director, the System Engineer will lead and support the development of Markem-Imaje’s and Solaris Laser’s products by providing strong technical leadership across multiple engineering disciplines.
From designing and implementing new products and solutions to analyzing data to enhance existing systems, the System Engineer plays a key role in improving overall productivity. This role focuses on balancing multiple aspects of complex projects, including system architecture and system dynamics, ensuring robust and efficient end-to-end solutions.
What you will do:
- Work with cross-functional teams on the integration of Laser sources, scanning heads, firmware and accessories into innovative prototype systems
- Be accountable for the product design in New Product Introduction projects
- Create functional specifications for all new Laser products with a marketing partner
- Define product architectures and module definitions
- Lead the technical interdisciplinary / inter module work, defining interfaces and leading the module trade-off
- Lead design reviews, reviewing the design as per the product development process and design review practices
- Challenge module leaders regarding module performances and design justification
- Manage the product specification: Cost, performances, quality, reliability
- Demonstrate the product concept coverage versus the desired technical specification
- Assess technical risks and lead mitigation plans
- Work with the Product Marketing Manager and the Engineering Manager to determine research projects that support the product roadmap
- Create and maintain the technical roadmap
- Keep abreast of top industry trends and technology developments to ensure architecture and design decisions are in line with current and potential future developments
What you need to have:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar position within an industrial, multicultural environment.
- Experience in all elements of Systems Engineering, requirements definition through system design, integration, verification and validation
- Extensive technical knowledge (Microprocessors, electronics, mechanics, software, thermal analysis, critical tolerances, data communication, regulatory standards, safety, etc)
- Experience using at least some of quality and lean tools: PPAP, Audits, Control plans, FMEA, 8Do, MSA/SPC, Ishikawa, 5S, etc.
- 2+ years’ experience in 5+ persons Team Leadership would be a strong advantage
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and changing environment
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, SAP is a plus
- Very good level of English is a must (both written and spoken)
