Principal Activities/Duties/Responsibilities

  • Act as a working Lead, responsible for hands-on projects.  May lead multiple technically complex projects at one time.
  • Manage resource allocation and priority setting.  Ability to lead technical teams in defining strategy and technical direction.
  • Manage an experienced technical team ensuring priorities and communicated clearly and projects are completed on time.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members on a proactive and positive bases.
  • Actively participate in recruiting, retaining and developing of the team.
  • Recognized as a key technical resource.
  • Maintain all laboratory personnel trainings, reviews, and goal setting
  • Ensure technical support for Supply Chain especially Ink Production and Ink Quality.
  • Support IP strategy and coordinate regulation and product compliance with relevant M-I services.
  • Join forces with MI Global ink/chemistry team to design and execute standard product development and/or research methods, protocols, and procedures
  • Conduct tests or investigations pertaining to development of new designs, methods, materials, or processes and investigate possible application of results.
  • Work closely with Reliability Engineering and the Value Stream Managers to ensure M-I ink and consumables products meet customer expectations.
  • Respond to unscheduled deadlines, customer needs, red cards, crises, etc. without neglecting other duties.
  • Generate summary reports, presentations, and technical reports associated with development / research findings.  Conduct scientific meetings and provide leadership in scientific organizations, through contributing to the field of inks and coatings.
  • Responsible for implementing Markem-Imaje EH&S policies, for the safety of laboratory personnel and visitors.
  • Some travel will be necessary, to customers, suppliers, trade shows, conferences or other M-I sites.

Education and/or Experience Required

  • PhD or Masters degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Materials Science
  • 10+ years experience in coatings, ink or polymer industry and formulation experience are an advantage.  Ink jet or industrial printing experience is preferred.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Previous project management skills required
  • Strong team building skills to optimize organizational influence and accountability.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal), creative and innovative mindset.
  • Shown ability to inspire, influence and lead effectively
  • Strong business acumen. 
  • Understanding the us of financial thresholds and project metrics and budget planning.
  • High motivation, degree of commitment and initiative.
  • Previous experience working in a matrix organization.
