Job Title:        NPD/DTV Engineering Manager

Location:        Keosauqua, IA             

 

What we’re looking for:

 

We are looking for an experienced leader who will be responsible for managing the technical planning, development, and project execution of new products (NPD) and design-to-value (DTV). You will lead the technical scoping of new products, translation of the voice of the customer to technical requirements, concept development, product performance, and design release for both heated and refrigerated food display cases for DFR’s Specialty division.  You will work closely with Sales, Product Management, Sourcing, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure projects launch smoothly and meet financial commitments.

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Accountable for new product development of commercial food display products (NPD) and cost reduction of existing products (DTV)
  • Supports Product Management in development of the NPD/DTV roadmap
  • Evaluates cost, benefits, and resources to support NPD/DTV projects
  • Ensures support and compliance of the NPD Stage Gate engineering requirements:
    • Concepts and intellectual property
    • Design verification plan including DFMEA and modeling
    • Prototype and pilot builds
    • Product testing
    • Design reviews
    • Engineering CAD models, drawings, and bill of materials
    • Agency compliance
    • Cost of goods sold (COGS)
    • Handoffs and Training
  • Provides local leadership of the DTV process:
    • The creative process of the project funnel
    • Ensuring team is meeting the key objectives of savings timing, rate, and volume for the active projects
    • Planning and monthly reporting of related of projects vs the Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
  • Collaborates with the leaders of Dover India Innovation Center (DIIC), Sourcing, Inside Sales, Engineering, Field Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering and Production on projects
  • Introduces policies and initiatives that contribute to the overall improvement of the business
  • Develops the team to accomplish NPD/DTV goals and objectives
  • Site leader that ensures the continued transition and development of CAD (Solidworks) and Product Life Cycle-PLM, Product Data Management-PDM and Bills of Material-BOM (Enovia) within the entire engineering team and its interfaces with manufacturing.

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering project management or other engineering leadership experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in design of HVAC, refrigeration, dehumidifier, or similar thermodynamic systems
  • 5+ years of experience with sheet metal solid modeling experience, preferably with SolidWorks and Enovia 

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • MBA or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • PMP training or certification
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in refrigeration, air conditioning, dehumidifier, sealed-system, airflow thermal management, or similar, design theory and application
  • Supermarket refrigeration system overall understanding and component knowledge
  • Familiarity with tools and techniques necessary to meet industry standards for good refrigeration testing and analysis
  • ANSYS FEA/CFD experience
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma

  • Proven track record of delivering NPDs, sub-system development or medium to large VAVE projects from concept to launch.
  • In-depth experience in executing projects through stage-gate processes, PLM systems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills and ability to exert personal influence to gain stakeholder support in a cross-functional environment.
  • Action oriented, ethical in value, and have a strong customer focus
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
