Director - Engineering Digital Solutions

This role will be a Director in the DFS Solutions Segment and will be accountable for the Digital Solutions of our next generation IoT and cloud solutions; including the leadership of our Krakow office and will be based in our Krakow office.


You will lead the vision and strategy for our digital solutions team and ensure that strategic operational goals are executed. You will partner with our global product management teams to ensure our product development aligns to solving market problems, addresses customer needs as well as being innovative and market leading.


You will need a growth mindset, an entrepreneurial spirit, collaborative style and a disciplined delivery focus to work successfully across our global and diverse teams.


You should have extensive experience as an and engineering leader and as an engineer, managing complex technical projects and know how to build products and features from scratch.


Understating the fueling sector, industry trends and customer segments or similar is a key advantage to being successful.

Key Responsibilities



  • Lead vision, strategy development and the operational deployment for our cloud platform and the applications developed and deployed on it.
  • Drive engineering process and best practices to ensure predictable, on-time delivery of quality products that exceed customer expectations from a time-to-value and a reliability perspective within contractual service-level agreements.
  • Design strategies for future development projects (solutions, products and features) based on the company’s overall objectives and resources optimising and driving engineering excellence.


Leadership & Organizational Capability

  • Lead a global engineering team of developers, product owners, scrum masters and first line managers.
  • Build a high performing team aligned to our culture of cultivating excellence.
  • Provide exceptional leadership to optimise performance and continually improve efficiency and capability.
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure alignment of product requirements, product road maps, product development and engineering plans.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Teams, Engineering Architects and Product Managers to ensure cohesion and alignment of strategic and tactical decisions.


Site Leadership

  • Accountable for the site operation in Krakow including the engagement of our Krakow site-based team.
  • Accountable for budget, resource management and operational responsibility including setting goals, budgets and timelines for Krakow site, our projects and our team members.



Execution Champions

  • Collaborate with architects, product managers, product owners and other key stakeholders to ensure our solutions products and features are technically sound on schedule with a great user experience.
  • Collaborate across global teams to identify opportunities and resolve cross platform conflicts.
  • Establish best engineering and quality processes to reduce lead time and enhance reliability and quality.
  • Drive improvement of our Agile/Kanban methodologies across all of Solutions Engineering, insisting on data driven metrics that verify results.
  • Ensure continuous compliance with, and certifications for, all necessary industry & security standards including PCI, SSAE18 SOC1 and SOC2, and ISO270001
  • Lead our integration with external partners and oversee all software development plans from ideation to execution.

Work experience requirements:

  • Understand Fuel Retail industry trends, customer segments, competitive landscape and needs or similar.
  • Subject matter expertise in Digital Transformation.
  • Demonstrated success in developing new products and optimizing a portfolio of products globally.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional global teams in multiple time zones.
  • Experience of team transformation to a scalable high performing team.
  • Minimum of 3 years successfully managing a remote site as site leader.
  • Extensive experience in delivering SaaS solutions.
  • Extensive experience in leading Agile software development teams.
  • Experience designing, developing and delivering software products as an Engineer.
  • Leadership of a technical team for at least 5 years at Director level.
  • Specific experience of leading Dev Ops & Test Automation.
  • 15+ years-experience defining/planning/developing complex software applications preferably including both cloud-based SaaS and Windows/Linux client applications
  • Experience in Windows, .NET, C#, Visual Studio, Jira, Mobile, and Azure development environments.
  • Familiar with opensource or community source management.
  • Master of Science in Computer Science or equivalent
