POSITION SUMMARY:

The Customer Application Engineer is based at Warn’s Detroit Tech Center.  This key role is to act as the technical expert, interfacing with the appropriate technical counterparts within the customer’s organization.  Close collaboration with customers to ensure retention, growth, and expanding opportunity are the main objectives.  Formulation of strategic plans in collaboration with Project Management, Program Management, Sales, Advanced Technology Engineering, and Manufacturing, functions to communicate customer needs are met is required.  In addition, engagement with, and direction of, Product Engineering team is required to ensure on-time solutions meeting customer specifications, systems, and unspoken needs are met.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSME / BSEE with 5-10 years industry specific experience.
  • Drivetrain / Powertrain experience preferred
  • Hands on engineer.
  • Customer focused.
  • Able to communicate across functional areas (sales, engineering, manufacturing, leadership).
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to evaluate business issues and prioritize activities.
  • Familiarity with design of gears, castings, injection molded parts, and fabricated components.
  • Familiarity with electro-magnetic actuators, electro-mechanical actuators, synchronizers, and other driveline technologies.
  • DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, GPDS, and IATF knowledge.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and create solid models in NX and lifecycle management with TeamCenter.
  • Ability to travel to Warn Automotive locations and customer locations, including regions outside of area of responsibility and internationally 
  • Travel 30%+
