General Function:              

This position has the responsibility to ensure the overall success of the design, engineering, manufacturing, and implementation of state of the art, high precision and high speed innovative can manufacturing lines. The primarily market is vertical integration within the beverage industries. The role is for the management and integration of the complete Turnkey Lines for Standard and Specialty metal containers. It includes:

 

  • Phase I – Preliminary Engineering Deliverables
  • Phase II – Detailed Line Engineering
  • Phase III – Production and Process Equipment technical alignment
  • Phase IV – Installation oversite and equipment placement - managing start-up and commercialization

 

Developing resources internally and externally to manage the aforementioned with Integration Engineering and Operations personnel for installation, commissioning, and commercialization of new and existing lines. Risk & customer management, team leadership, good interpersonal skills, conflict resolution abilities, and strong organizational skills are critical to this role. 

 

The selected candidate must be readily available to travel domestically with some international, to support the project requirements, including customer meetings and new equipment commissioning.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure the solutions are aligned with the customer needs and requirements.
  • Identify with necessary resources and recommend the correct technical solution as appropriate for production and support equipment.
  • Interface with Integration Companies along with assisting the build out of organic resources.
  • Responsible for the overall technical aspects of the project, including technical reviews and analysis and input of recommended can manufacturing equipment and third-party support equipment and the implementation there of.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, and project management resources throughout the Line design - assist with the assets required for deployment of resources at the given production sites.
  • Manage project updates for Belvac Executives to ensure issues are communicated in a timely manner
  • Initiate technical analysis and review of third party can manufacturing and support equipment – integrate and manage recommendations.
  • Provide expertise in design reviews and recommendation to project managers. Facilitate communication between Outside Can Line Integration Firms and Belvac, related to system design and installation issues.  This includes all electrical, utility and building requirements, support, and control systems
  • Line Control design, build and implementation
  • Line Monitoring implementation – help better current design
  • Assist with design and drawings approvals with Customers, Suppliers, Internal Engineering and Systems Integrators
  • Leverage engineering resources to lead the inspection and acceptance of third-party equipment, and to identify and lead improvements.
  • Monitor schedules with project management team of Machine Manufacturing Operations, including third party parts & equipment procurement, inspection & delivery, parts machining, assembly and testing
  • Provide expertise with pre-shipment buyoff testing and approval, as well as delivery, installation and commissioning at the customer’s plant
  • Developing, coordinating, and evaluating integration project plans including budget management.  Monitor, identify and take necessary actions to proactively keep project costs in line and to meet the final approved budget
  • Develop and maintain standardized Equipment specifications for all equipment in a Can Line.
  • Develop a Can Line Design Guide with best practices for each piece of equipment along with operational processes in manufacturing a commercial can.
  • Utilize 3D Can Line design approach to show case capabilities and eliminate functional interferences.

 

Education

BS or higher degree in Engineering or Technical related field, or a combination of education and equivalent experience 10-20 years in Machine Design, Systems Integration, Facility Engineering and Complex Capital Equipment.

 

 

Experience

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to develop concise reports and correspondence, and ability to speak effectively at all levels of the Belvac, Customer organizations
  • General Management with P&L experience a plus
  • Understanding of automation and high-speed manufacturing systems design & engineering
  • In depth Can Manufacturing experience is highly desirable. Direct supervision of actual Can manufacturing experience preferred.
  • This position must be capable of successfully address the daily stress levels of a dynamic business environment
  • Leading teams through problem solving activities in a constructive and objective way; must have the ability to deal with conflict resolution
