Electrical Assembly Operator

General Function:     Assembling the electrical needs associated with both small and final assemblies. Install subassemblies, wire and install components, terminate machine wiring per electrical drawing. Assist with customer buy-off(s), engineering changes, meeting customer requirements and ensuring that the electrical aspects of all machines or assemblies meet standards. All employees performing a work sequence on any order are required to physically move and transact the material to the next sequence once their task has been completed. All employees utilizing dispatch sheets shall run jobs in date sequence without exception, unless directed otherwise by cognizant Manager and/or Production Control Planners. It is every employee’s responsibility to improve processes to reduce set-up and run-time standards. This shall be a performance measure during all employee evaluations.  It is every BPM, Inc. Employee’s responsibility to be aware of and work with Belvac's current documented Quality Management System as it pertains to their job requirements

 

Criteria for Electrical Assembly (B) is as follows:

  • It is every BPM, Inc. Employee’s responsibility to be aware of and work with Belvac’s current documented Quality Management System as it pertains to their job requirements.
  • Capable of distinguishing different types and color of wires used in the manufacture of Belvac production machinery.
  • Understanding of applicable NFPA, NEC and OSHA electrical codes as they pertain to Belvac machinery.
  • Interprets blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Install electrical devices (i.e. switches, sensors, panel components) and wire per electrical drawing.
  • Inspects and test components and equipment, using instruments such as, voltmeters, ammeters, and other test equipment.
  • Fill out documentation for customer buy-off and Belvac quality policies.
  • Assist in maintaining stock of frequently used parts.
  • Uses specialized tools - hole punches, wire cutters, screwdrivers, volt / ohm meter, ammeter, oscilloscope, pipe benders and threaders.
  • Drills and taps holes at specified locations for mounting electrical devices.
  • Cuts, strips, bends and forms cables, conduit, pipe and tubing used to connect circuits and subassemblies using pipe cutters, bandsaw and mechanical or hydraulic pipe or cable benders.
  • Connects wiring to devices according to electrical drawings.
  • Solders connections and crimp connectors to wire ends using soldering iron or crimping tools.
  • Test and adjust electrical assemblies using electrician handtools and test equipment.

 

 

All preceding criteria, criteria at next level and time in grade requirement of two years (minimum) must be met before eligible for promotion to Electrical Assembler A.

 

Criteria for Electrical Assembly (A) is as follows:

  • Assist with developing electrical procedures and work instructions.
  • Capable of debugging Industrial Processors and setup variable speed drives units.
  • Assist Engineering with meeting design criteria and correcting problems.
  • Capable of understanding and interpreting electrical programs and software utilized by standard Belvac machinery.
  • Capable of distinguishing different types and color of wires used in the manufacture of Belvac production machinery.
  • Understanding of applicable NFPA, NEC and OSHA electrical codes as they pertain to Belvac machinery.
  • Capable of wiring any standard BPM products with no assistance.

Education:     High School Graduate or Equivalent Certificate.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of time standing.
  • Must be able to bend and kneel freely
  • Although all production areas have overhead cranes, on occasion Manufacturing, Stockroom and Assembly employees may choose to lift items by hand for convenience. It is the responsibility of all employees to follow proper lifting techniques and seek help or utilize mechanical lifting aids as appropriate to avoid potential injury.
  • Operate Forktrucks
  • Be able to work with voltages of 500 volts or less.
