General Function:       

Responsibilities include administration, development, application and maintenance of manufacturing and assembly processes within the IFS ERP system. Coordination of engineering BOMs with the processes necessary to achieve reliable and efficient manufacturing and assembly. Review and approve engineering drawings for manufacturability. Provide technical support to machining operations. Develop machining processes, fixtures, methods, equipment, and standards to meet internal production needs. Capable of applying innovative methods and strategies to assure a pro-active response to new and present business opportunities. Serve as an interface between manufacturing and product engineering to assure most cost-effective and reliable manufacturability of new and existing products. Responsible for continuous process improvement resulting in superior quality and cost savings objectives. Work as a team member with minimal daily supervision.

 

Necessary

  • Familiarity with IFS software or other similar ERP system
  • Experience with 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation using Autodesk Inventor software or similar
  • Experience with document management and revision control using Autodesk Vault software or similar
  • Must possess strong Excel skills
  • Manage and coordinating large engineering BOMs with the associated manufacturing process
  • Setup and maintain process routing and material structures for assemblies and machined components
  • Mechanical assembly experience
  • Design of fixtures/jigs for assembly, machining and lifting
  • Create work instructions, layout documents and process drawings
  • Ability to analyze and summarize data to find trends and performance rates
  • Focus on safety throughout all operations
  • Understand and use GD&T

  • Lean 6 Sigma / 5S
  • Review and approve engineering drawings for manufacturability and adherence to company standards
  • Recommend in-house manufacturing versus purchasing based upon company manufacturing capabilities and core competencies
  • Experience in various machining processes
  • Familiarity with welding
  • Metrology experience
  • Understand and maintain inventory management system
  • Understanding of metallurgy to recommend raw materials and their substitutions
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions and/or preventative measures
  • Analyze and plan workflow, space requirements and shop floor equipment layout
  • Analyze and track process improvement cost savings
