General Function:  Preparing machines or components for protective or decorative material, such as paint, glaze, gel-coat or lacquer. Capable of repairing metal deformities, such as dents, casting porosity’s, or scratches which will affect the overall quality of the part, machine, assembly, etc. being painted.  All employees performing a work sequence on any order are required to physically move and transact the material to the next sequence once their task has been completed. All employees utilizing dispatch sheets shall run jobs in date sequence without exception, unless directed otherwise by cognizant Manager and/or Production Control Planners. It is every employee’s responsibility to improve processes to reduce set-up and run-time standards. This shall be a performance measure during all employee evaluations.


Primary Responsibilities for Labor Grade 2 Paint Prep (C )  ;

· It is every BPM, Inc. Employee’s responsibility to be aware of and work with Belvac's current documented Quality Management System as it pertains to their job requirements

· Replaces screens and filters.

· Cleans grease and dirt from product, using materials such as lacquer thinner, turpentine or soap and water.

· Cleans spray and drying chambers.

· Racks work pieces and inspects, marks and transfers finished product to shipping, stockroom or Assembly staging area(s).

· Preps parts for spray painting using masking tape.

· Smooth surfaces using sandpaper or a DA sander.

· Operate Sandblaster for part preparation for both Paint and Black Oxide operations.

· Assist in the grinding and polishing areas when required.

· May be required to inventory materials needed within the work area.

· Maintain the cleanliness of equipment and painting areas.

· Uses Fork truck or other moving devices to move product to work area(s) or devices such as sawhorses, which are needed for preparing or painting.

· Communicates well with others.

Operate Fork trucks.


Education:      High School or Equivalent Certificate


Physical Requirements:

  • Although all production areas have overhead cranes, on occasion Manufacturing, Stockroom and Assembly employees may choose to lift items by hand for convenience. It is the responsibility of all employees to follow proper lifting techniques and seek help or utilize mechanical lifting aids as appropriate to avoid potential injury.
  • Extended periods of time standing.
  • Must be able to bend and kneel freely.
  • Good eye sight
