General Purpose: Support supplier development and quality for the North American based supply chain. Work in a team environment with suppliers to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste and provide for continuous improvements in meeting all customer requirements. Facilitate root cause analysis and provide corrective feedback to prevent line stops due to supply issues and field failures. Manage the customer specific requirements and offer technical support to suppliers. Responsible for ensuring that the products produced meet quality standards required to minimize costs and maximize customer satisfaction. Monitors and ensures suppliers are consistently maintaining the quality and delivery performance levels requirements. Lead or support projects of medium complexity with results positively impacting business objectives.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

General:

  • Highly focused on Current Supplier Development and decreasing non-conformances.
  • It is the responsibility of all Belvac employees to be aware of and adhere to the Belvac Quality Management System as it pertains to their job requirements.
  • Maintain and recommend improvements to the Supplier Quality Manual and communicate the requirements and expectations clearly with suppliers.
  • Work with the suppliers directly to create correction action plans to address process and systemic failures.
  • Responsible for minimizing cost and improving the quality and delivery of purchased components and services by primarily ensuring that the skills, experiences and techniques developed and deployed internally for use in the manufacturing of Belvac products are shared with suppliers.
  •  Responsible for the prevention and timely resolution of supply chain related quality issues in accordance with Belvac Quality Management System. 
  • Provides input to Belvac leadership team and relative departments regarding opportunities to enhance the manufacturability of products. 
  • Participates in and may lead team meetings regarding supply chain quality performance.
  • Provide weekly written reports to the Director, Quality Assurance regarding current activities.
  • Participate in monthly Supplier Quality scorecard results meetings with required  leadership  and other identified team members.
  • Report on assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive achievement of targets.

 

Supplier Development:

  • Assist in identifying, selecting and negotiating the contracts for new best value suppliers with proven effective quality management systems capable of consistently meeting quality requirements
  • Perform supplier visits to assess manufacturing/inspection resources and Quality Management System capabilities as a particular product source provider. 
  • Assist in the development of the effective quality planning disciplines of APQP and PPAPs for new products and processes in alignment with business objectives. Support the development of DFMEA, and PFMEAs. This includes the systems, processes, documentation, training and implementation both internally and with suppliers.
  • Perform supplier validation audits, with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP).
  • Assist in identifying, developing and implementing value applications for supplier quality control plans to insure effective communication of design specifications and inspection methodologies for supplier manufacturing.
  • Support and recommend improvements to the new supplier First Article order tracking system for effective and timely process and information flow.
  • Support and recommend improvements to the effective supplier evaluation and CAR system. This includes analyzing performance data to identify high risk suppliers and systemic areas for improvement across the supplier base.
  • Lead supplier development in achieving consistent supplier quality performance and transition to Dock-to-Stock part status.
  • Develops and improve manufacturing/inspection methods.
  • Assist in identifying  opportunities for sharing of CMM programming and set-up techniques with suppliers using similar gage equipment for improved  standardization of quality inspection results.
  • Develop, plan and implement inspection technique and methods training with the suppliers and internally as required.
  • Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and with suppliers.

 

Business Systems:

  • Support and recommend improvements to the supplier quality business systems and procedures to drive supplier quality performance and reduce costs.
  • Support and recommend improvements to the VP rework process with the target of recovering all costs associated with the re-working of supplied parts.
  • Assigns supply chain corrective and preventive actions. Reviews all root cause and corrective/preventive actions submitted by supply chain to ensure optimum effectiveness.  Consistently follows-up on supply chain corrective/ preventive actions and audit findings to ensure continuous improvement on all aspects of outsourced manufacturing.

 

Support

  • Support new product and process launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards
  • Assist product and development engineering regarding manufacturability and inspection issues.
  • Assists with the planning of manufacturing engineering projects to match supplier resources according to project requirements.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements and related specifications.  Also makes specific manufacturing process decisions and proposes design changes to enhance supplier and internal manufacturability.
  • Support/perform inspection activities as required.
  • Perform Quality Management Systems Audits

 

Education/Experience:

  • Five years minimum experience in manufacturing, metal working and quality or a two year Technical degree in Engineering, Industrial Systems, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance or related discipline
  • Proficient with lean tools and applied problem solving methodologies (Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred)
  • Metrology, Inspection Methods and Equipment
  • Certified ISO9001 Internal and/or lead auditor
  •  Project management and technical experience desired. 
  • Good working knowledge of engineering design drawings, GDT, jig and fixture design, CNC programing and quality inspection methods
  • Proficient knowledge of GD&T and high tolerances as applied to technical drawings. 
  • Proficient in the use of computers including ERP systems, MS Windows, Microsoft Office tools, Word, and Excel
  • Proficient understanding of ISO 9001 2015 standard requirements and Quality Management Systems

 

Travel:

Up to 50% domestic and international travel
