General Function:
Promote and facilitate a culture that reflects Belvac’s Basic Beliefs and Values which include high performance, inclusion and diversity, sustainability, continuous improvement, safety, and quality excellence.
Plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee global operations activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective processes to meet current and future needs of the organization.
An organizational leader who uses their experience and education to make timely and sound decisions to ensure an organization is profitable and sustainable.
A seasoned business professional who ensures that daily business practices meet operational goals and produce maximum efficiency though a continuous improvement culture.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a long-term strategic plan to support global growth initiatives to meet sales projections and capacity constraints to optimize costs and equipment lead times.
- Recruit, hire, and train a workforce that adheres to Belvac’s Basic Beliefs and Vision Statement. Ensuring that a highly motivated, well-trained and self-managed workforce exists and is maintained.
- Continuously improve operations and business processes through alignment with Belvac’s Business System with a strong focus on driving continuous improvement / lean culture and consistent standard of processes for safety, quality, material management, sourcing and cost.
- Proactive and driven leadership approach to assure business results are achieved. Delegation of details as necessary, with follow up on timeliness and quality. Accountability for results.
- Multi-site responsibility including but not limited to manufacturing facilities in Virginia, New York, Czech Republic, Netherlands, and China.
- Utilize lean manufacturing principles, drive process and continuous improvements, and operational performance. Develop key performance indicators (KPI’s) to monitor business performance objectives.
- Full budgetary responsibility and accountability for all areas managed. Routinely monitor and make cost management decisions for manufacturing operations including establishing cost reduction objectives quarterly and annually.

Education:
- A B.S. or B.A. in Business, Engineering or Materials Planning with a Master’s in Business Administration strongly preferred.
- Minimum of Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum of 15 years manufacturing operations experience including plant management.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience leading and managing a significant segment/business unit of a large industrial manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer.
- Must be able to travel at least 25% of the time domestically and internationally as needed and required.
- Candidate must be authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship.
- Position requires individual be located at Belvac headquarters in Lynchburg VA.

- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to develop detailed reports and correspondence, and ability to speak effectively before large groups of people.
- Strong operational and financial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to lead multiple locations.
- An extensive background in driving continuous improvement activities to improve operational performance including knowledge of lean management systems and lean tools.
- Experience in international business operations ideally including multi-site facility oversight.
- Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business principles. analytical problem-solving skills with an impeccable attention to detail. Ability to set overall strategy and drive process improvement. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge and experience with ERP systems and process tools such as project management, strategic planning, capacity planning, Organizational Capability Assessment, Lean / Continuous Improvement, Supply Chain Management, Fixed Capital Optimization, Stage Gate Process, and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) processes are strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in leading a “make to order” capital equipment – OEM, multi-site operation; heavy industrial product manufacturing with variety of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, Mechanical and Electrical Assembly, etc.).
- Broad and detailed knowledge of key operational systems including sales inventory operations planning (SIOP), materials planning systems (MRP), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and ISO quality systems with diverse experience managing varied and complex manufacturing processes.
- This position must be capable of successfully addressing the daily stress levels of a dynamic business environment.
