Overview

The CNC Machinist will operate multi-axis lathes in support of machining and other process which includes tasks such as loading and tending runs of parts, or performing one-step operations on individual parts.

Minimum Skill Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience operating a multi-axis CNC lathe which would include:
  • Positioning and securing tools in holding device, machine tables, chuck, centers, and fixtures.
  • Indexing turret and adjusting positions of tools at each station in relation to work piece to assure clearance between moving parts and machining of specified dimensions and tolerances
  • Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Prior use of standard hand tools
• Prior use of standard pneumatic tools
• Prior use of standard inspection tools i.e. calipers, micrometers, drop gauges
• Prior experience in precision metal machining
• Prior experience in machining with tolerances of +/- .001
• Prior experience machining metals such as; stainless steel, ductile iron, Hastelloy

Essential Competences and Capabilities

• Ability to read/interpret blueprints, job orders, tooling instructions, and standard charts for such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
• Perform housekeeping duties including 5S, coolant replacement, and TPM.
• Follow Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily duties and responsibilities.
• Ability to rotate into other positions within the team as required to meet production requirements.
• Actively participate in team meetings as required (safety, problem solving, etc.).
• Ability to problem-solves individually or as part of a group as job duties require.
• High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands and Environment Conditions

• Continuously standing up to 8 hours

• Frequent walking, bending, squatting, or twisting
• Repetitive push or pull
• Ability to lift 10-20 pounds frequently without assistance and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance
• This position is performed in a manufacturing environment.  May be exposed to:
  • Loud operating machinery
  • Wide temperature variations
  • Exposure to chemicals, vapors and lubricants
