Position Title: Continuous Improvement Manager



Position Summary:

The Continuous Improvement Manager will establish, oversee, and manage the VSG Continuous Improvement programs for NSA manufacturing operations in Madison Indiana. The successful candidate will provide leadership and drive implementation of VSG’s Continuous Improvement initiatives and use them to drive overall improvements to the business.


The CI Manager is responsible for development, implementation, maintenance and delivery of training materials. They are also responsible for mentoring and coaching other Blackbelts, Greenbelts and Lean Technicians throughout the organization. They must possess an extensive conceptual background in the teachings of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma coupled with demonstrated implementation, delivery and measurable results in the above programs.  Excellent presentation, team facilitation, multi-project oversight, training and leadership skills are required. 


As the leading voice on Lean Six Sigma methodology, they train, mentor and coach business stakeholders and champions, partnering with company leaders across all organizational levels to select and prioritize improvement initiatives, ensuring that best practices are disseminated throughout the organization. Through their efforts they ensure organizational compliance with the required Lean Six Sigma competency levels and maintain alignment between Lean Six Sigma deployment activities and strategic business plans. Their efforts make them a critical change agent, consistently instilling a Lean and Six Sigma culture by embracing the excellence principles across the business organization.

  • Determining the overall continuous improvement strategy to align with VSG’s overall strategic plan.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to ensure proper interface of the CI function to manufacturing, engineering, and sales & service.
  • Design develop and drive utilization of appropriate lean tools and champion general continuous improvement initiatives to improve overall business performance as measured by productivity, on-time performance and quality trends.
  • Develop and implement standard work for all manufacturing operations.
  • Lead creation and implementation of tactical plans to achieve VSG’s Strategic Vision Consistently exceed customer expectations for product delivery and quality.
  • Provide training and leadership and act as a change agent while representing a positive and enthusiastic role model to ensure high engagement across the team.



  • BS in engineering or Management Science or related field
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt certification, Master Blackbelt preferred
  • Minimum five years of continuous improvement experience
  • Must have led a lean implementation at a large facility
  • Strong collaborative work ethic and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, and vendors
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills and a high tolerance for ambiguity. Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Lean and Six Sigma implementation experience in functional and manufacturing related projects and processes
  • Extensive project management, team facilitation and leadership of Lean and Six Sigma tools, methods and concepts at the Blackbelt level is required.
  • Process industry experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach, mentor and coach Lean Six Sigma practitioners to achieve business results through Six Sigma projects
  • Expert at LeanSigma tools - knowledge formally tested / demonstrated
