Freight Claims and Logistics Specialist

Part of Dover Corporation’s Engineered Systems segment, Vehicle Service Group (VSG) is a strong, diverse and dynamic global leader in the vehicle service industry. VSG comprises 13 major vehicle lifting, wheel service, diagnostic and collision repair brands: Rotary Lift®, Chief®, Forward®, Direct-Lift®, Ravaglioli, Hanmecson®, Revolution®, Elektron, Blitz, Nogra, Butler, Space and Sirio.

SUMMARY:

 

The Freight Claims and Logistics Specialist works cross-functionally with internal VSG departments to manage the freight claims process of data gathering and detailed reporting.  This role will require working closely with carriers and customers to gather information from orders to submit freight claims.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Gathering all details required to submit freight claims for lost or damaged shipments.  Ensure all claims are filed timely.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for freight claims related information and prepare all necessary documents to onsite logistics provider who will submit claims.
  • Coordinate with Technical Support and Quality departments to ensure return goods authorization numbers are created and shipments are returned to original location (if needed).
  • Generate and analyze reports pertaining to claims data including trends, costs, and resolution.
  • Work with Shipping, Quality, and Continuous Improvement departments to make recommendations to reduce freight claim frequency

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of various transportation modes related to shipping products
  • Experience with product packaging, material handling, shipping and transportation
  • Knowledge of general freight claims procedures

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • On-site (Madison, IN)
  • Occasional travel < 5%
