POSITION TITLE:  HR Generalist

 

SUMMARY: Carry out various Human Resources functions for the Madison facility. With limited supervision of HR Manager, coordinates and administers a variety of programs and activities covering multiple areas of the human resources function to provide general HR support.  Will serve as back-up to others in the department in the areas of HRIS administration, data reporting, and recruitment support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Wellness:  Serve as the Wellness Coordinator for the company.  Manage and monitor contract with the on-site clinic, manage Dover’s annual Wellness events, and plan and manage the company’s own wellness strategy to increase employee involvement and engagement.
  • Onboarding: includes first-day new hire orientation, as well as administrative duties involved with hiring a new employee, including creating personnel file, vacation logs, new hire requirements and required paperwork.
  • Welfare and Morale: Facilitate Employee Engagement Committee to help develop plans and strategies for employee engagement.  Work with committee to plan carry out company-wide welfare and morale activities.  Will coordinate monthly birthday round-table meetings with hourly employees and Director of Operations. Coordinate the VSG service award program with employees, managers, and the vendor.
  • Talent Acquisition: Coordinate all temporary hires through staffing agency. Serve as internal liaison with internal COE regarding recruitment efforts, staying abreast of status of vacancies and providing recruitment support as needed.
  • Policy Administration: Responsible for month hourly and non-exempt absenteeism reports, and issuing counseling/disciplinary actions per the absenteeism policy.
  • Worker’s Compensation and OSHA: Responsible for the administration of the Worker’s Compensation Program in accordance with OSHA regulations. This includes accident reporting, claims administration, and trend and cost reporting. Additionally, will keep OSHA 300 logs and report on Accident Rate monthly.  Coordinate communication between injured employee, supervisor, company doctor and insurance company.
  • Talent Development: Assist with the company’s high school and college intern programs.
  • General Administration: Maintain employee badge system. Maintain legal bulletin boards at both facilities according to applicable laws and regulations
  • Provide backup services to the other functions within the department as needed (i.e. payroll, benefits, and training).
  • Will be responsible for providing data and metrics to HR Data Dashboard applicable to assigned job duties.

 

OVERALL QUALIFCATIONS:

  • Education and Experience: Skills and abilities consistent with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field. PHR certification a plus. Must have at least 2 years applicable Human Resources experience, accustomed to making independent decisions and dealing with people.  Exceptional written and oral communications skills required. Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer.  Must have strong people skills and the ability to handle a variety of tasks at one time.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to employees and management.  
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have thorough understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, is required.
