POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician

REPORTS TO:  Maintenance Manager

SHIFT: 2nd 

EXEMPTION STATUS: Salaried Non-Exempt

GRADE: B-N

 

SUMMARY:                        

To maintain and install machinery/equipment and maintain facilities in consistent conformance with customer expectations.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  1. Answer service calls to make repairs to equipment such as replacing bearings, repairing relays, switches and gearboxes.
  2. Repair airlines, water pipes, gas, and oxygen lines as needed to support production.
  3. Must be able to work from ladders, lifts, and at different heights to perform duties.
  4. Maintain, sustain and continuously improve VSG Maintenance program.
  5. Determine spare parts inventory and maintain properly.
  6. Perform any required maintenance welding, using electric arc or gas processes as needed.
  7. Assist with maintenance of facility as assigned.
  8. Perform minor machinery and facility electrical repairs.
  9. Troubleshoot, maintain and assist to repair all type of mechanical  and electrical equipment
  10. Assist in the install of new machinery, and relocate new machinery as needed; insure machinery is set up properly.
  11. Complete and document work assignments as directed.
  12. Complete minor electrical repairs and installations such as installing conduit for electrical power outlets and equipment.
  13. Assist with preventative maintenance and servicing when assigned.

Advises supervisor of concerns, problems and progress of work in a timely manner.   7. Maintenance Log: Update necessary logs and check sheets to insure preventive maintenance files are accurate and OSHA requirements are met.
  8. Training: Willingness to upgrade electrical/mechanical skill set both on and off the job.

 

CONTACTS (Internal and External):

Interacts extensively with all manufacturing personnel and on an occasional basis with other functional areas within the Business Unit.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education: High school graduate with at least two years of training in three of the following mechanical, machine shop, hydraulic, electrical or electronic disciplines. Demonstrated skill in other positions at Vehicle Service Group that translate into the needs of the Maintenance Department.

Experience:  Must be able to read and understand simple electrical, hydraulic and mechanical schematics and apply them to repair equipment and to order necessary parts.  Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and relay logic controls.

Personal Tool Requirements: Following is a list of tools employee must provide to perform this job.

- Welder Hood

- Mechanical Tools Necessary to Perform Job per tool list.

- Voltage Tester

- V.O.M. (Analog satisfactory)

Supervision: Reports to Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Manager for job assignments and instructions. Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibility: Exercises moderate degree of judgment.  Questionable matters referred to the supervisor for assistance.
