POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY:                        

To maintain and install machinery and equipment and maintain facilities.  Perform necessary preventive maintenance to equipment and provide support to production in consistent conformance with customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lubricate and oil machinery as needed.
  • Perform necessary preventive maintenance to all equipment to insure proper operation. Document all preventive maintenance.
  • Make necessary repairs to equipment such as replacing bearings, repairing relays, switches and gearboxes.
  • Install airlines, water pipes, gas, and oxygen lines as needed to support production.
  • Must be able to work from ladders, lifts, and at different heights to perform duties.
  • Maintain, sustain and continuously improve VSG Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Determine spare parts inventory and maintain properly.
  • Perform any required maintenance welding, using electric arc or gas processes as needed.
  • Assist in with maintenance of facility as assigned.
  • Perform minor machinery and facility electrical repairs.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and assist to repair all type of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Assist in the install of new machinery, and relocate new machinery as needed; insure machinery is set up properly.
  • Complete work assignments as directed.
  • Complete minor electrical repairs and installations.


Other Functions:

  • Safety: Observe and maintain all safety requirements. Facilitate safe work practices and contribute resources to creating a safe work environment. Participate in in-house safety program or with the safety committees as needed.

  • Maintenance Log: Update necessary logs and check sheets to insure preventive maintenance files are accurate and OSHA requirements are met.
  • Training: Willingness to upgrade electrical/mechanical skill set both on and off the job.

 

 

OVERALL QUALIFICATIONS – Skills and Experience:

  • Education: High school graduate with at least two years of training in three of the following mechanical, machine shop, hydraulic, electrical or electronic disciplines. Demonstrated skill in other positions at Vehicle Service Group that translate into the needs of the Maintenance Department.
  • Experience:  Must be able to read and understand simple electrical, hydraulic and mechanical schematics and apply them to repair equipment and to order necessary parts.  Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and relay logic controls.
  • Personal Tool Requirements: Following is a list of tools employee must provide to perform this job.
    • Welder Hood
    • Mechanical Tools Necessary to Perform Job per tool list. 
    • Voltage Tester
    • V.O.M. (Analog satisfactory)
  • Supervision: Reports to Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Manager for job assignments and instructions. Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Responsibility: Exercises moderate degree of judgment.  Questionable matters referred to the supervisor for assistance.
