The Manager SW Engineering will be responsible for leading the Applications & Sustaining SW development group in Malmo to ensure the team delivers defect free complex technology solutions on-time, on-budget for multiple customers simultaneously. The responsibilities of the role include the leading and day to day management of the Applications and Sustaining SW Engineers.  The role includes co-ordination of all work undertaken in the location on application development and sustaining work under the direction given by the appropriate Program and Product Managers. The Manager will ensure that all work undertaken follows the guidance laid down by the New Product Development process and all engineering development principles.  Must also have ability to work with and understand SW developers based in and outside EMEA (i.e. US)

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead Malmo Software Engineering team to deliver defect free complex solutions, on-time, on-budget for multiple customers simultaneously.
  • Coordinate & manage new product development under the NPD process
  • Responsible for planning SW applications development projects and activities in line with agreed budgets
  • Responsible for planning, managing and executing resources aligned to sustaining activities
  • Overall responsibility for Payment & Systems SW design and architecture
  • Work closely with the EMEA Program and Product managers to ensure execution of agreed projects and strategies
  • Willingness to Work closely with the Global SW Engineering team to develop products suitable for sale across the world including hosting & participating in conference calls in the evenings and travel to international development centres (Europe, US) as required.

 

Mentoring the team to ensure the team have strong capabilities in:

  • C#; C++;.NET; XML; TCP/IP socket programming
  • Object-oriented design
  • Deep understanding of Multi-threading and real-time software architectures
  • Windows 10, Windows CE and real-time operating system
  • Successful use of code profiling, optimization, analysis tools
  • Automated testing
  • Automated builds
  • Source code control
  • Habitual code reviews
  • Strong grasp of software design patterns
     

Qualification Requirements:

  • Master or BSc of Computer Science Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in SW design and development
  • Thorough knowledge of OO design and pattern usage required
  • 3 to 5 years of Agile with Scrum Development process experience desired
  • Track record of successful execution: Demonstrated experience in leading teams to deliver defect-free complex technology solutions, on-time, on-budget
  • Expert Knowledge of Fuel Payment & Systems Technologies and the EMEA Market place.
  • An abiding interest in and competence for solving real world business problems
  • Driven to produce software of the highest quality through self-discipline, clear and engaged communication, and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to influence client strategy, tactics, and perceptions
