Inks R&D Team Leader

The Role

 

The Inks R&D Team Leader will manage a research team (8 people) in a state-of-the-art innovation center notable by its dynamic entrepreneurial spirit. You will be working along with Project Technical Leaders, Ink R&D Chemists and Technicians in the development, formulation, characterization and testing prototype inkjet inks.

You’ll have an opportunity to work in a multicultural environment across the Markem-Imaje organization, you will interact with Project Managers, System Engineers, Quality, Marketing, Sourcing departments, and others throughout the organization for high value integrated solutions.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of professional chemists including MSc and PhD employees.
  • Develop inkjet ink formulation specifications/parameters in correlation with the technology and application constraints, (rheology, adhesion, resistances…) through the team or with his/her own projects.
  • Understand technology capabilities and limitations in the applications scope and define priorities with the Marketing, Project Manager, and Inks R&D Director.
  • Manage short- and longer-term priorities considering resource constraints and business strategies.
  • Organize the overall research plan: specifications, design development and test of applications that respond to market needs.
  • Commit on delivery and anticipate next steps for prototypes, formulations, resources, suppliers, third parties… coordinate with other Markem-Imaje functions.
  • Support Intellectual Property strategy and coordinate regulation & product compliance with relevant Markem-Imaje departments.
  • Communicate projects status with appropriate media (notes, reports, presentation…).
  • Support the business development team for roadmap definition and for the marketing/technical documentation creation.
  • Contribute to the external communication on applications and on the technologies, participate to customer meetings, videos, conferences, and external events.
  • Responsible to implement Markem-Imaje Environmental Health and Safety Policy.
  • The position requires some travels in Europe (rarely in US).

 

What you need to have:

 

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Rheology, Fluid mechanic.
  • Ideally >5 years of inkjet industrial experience (eventually printing industry).
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about technology, with strong technology culture.
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty and manage technical risk.
  • Fluent in English is a must. Good level in French is preferred.
