The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, planning, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects according to strict deadlines and within budget while ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and contractors or consultants of multiple disciplines in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also participate in defining the projects’ objectives and oversee the quality of the projects throughout the life cycle.

Essential Function:

  • Meet the overall objectives of the project(s) and program(s).
  • Follow the appropriate management system(s) which ensure that all required program launch activities and quality planning activities take place during the development of the program.
  • Set up and interact with the project team and is responsible for all disciplines, team success and the results of each team member.
  • Creates and executes project work plans and timelines and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Monitors the teams’ abilities to meet all project targets, including program costs, customer requirements and risks.
  • Drafts and submits budget proposals and recommends subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Work with project team to develop, submit, and implement cost savings.
  • Evaluates resource needs for projects in support of all new products and cost reduction initiatives, obtaining consensus on due dates with all functional champions.
  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of project(s) and scope.
  • Develop proposals for risk mitigation and coordinate appropriate risk management activities.
  • Sets and continually manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Reviews deliverables prepared by team, identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change. Escalates issues of work product or team member behaviors as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Builds, develops and grows any business relationships vital to the success of the project(s).
  • Effectively applies our practices, complies, practices and enforces project and product standards.
  • Prepares for and presents project and quality reviews. Delivers engaging, informative and well-organized presentations.
  • Effectively facilitates regular team meetings and presents reports verbally, in writing and in presentations to keep all stakeholders informed of project progress, problems and solutions.
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.
  • Participates in analysis of project profitability, revenue and margins as required.
  • Conducts project post mortems and reports on recommendations in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.
  • Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in assigned area. Responsible for design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, including a self-assessment and report to management.
  • Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned area.
  • Work safely and without injury.

 

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management or Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Certification in Project Management is required.
  • At least three to five years of successful project management (including agile / hybrid project methodologies) in a technical organization with proven experience in managing a team to tight, strict timelines.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, risk management and change management.
  • Experience in the automotive industry or with experience with products similar to those manufactured at Warn Automotive is preferred.
  • Strong, proven experience working in cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, engineering, sourcing and validation test is preferred.

  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management with similar products/processes.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Working knowledge of IATF, ISO 14000 and APQP concepts and practices.
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently. Flexible during times of change.
  • Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Persuasive, encouraging and motivating.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management and other teams.
  • Ability to defuse tension among project team or between teams, should it arise.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.

  • Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other team members.

Physical and Visual Activities:

  • Standing, Walking, Sitting, Lifting, Carrying, Balancing, Stooping, Reaching, Handling, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, Acuity-Far, Acuity-Near, Depth Perception, and Field of Vision. 
  • Limited travel may be required. 
  • Requires ability to sit in front of computer monitor most of an 8 hour.

  • May require lifting up to 20 pounds (or 40 pounds with assistance).
  • May require ability to travel on a limited basis as business demands.
