Position Summary:

The Assembler level IV is responsible for performing a wide range of assembly functions to build, powered clamps and end effectors using different mechanical tools and machines. Components assembled may have rigid tolerance requirements as well as intricate assembly operations and processes. Tasks may be performed independently or working as part of a team.

 

The Assembler IV will be responsible for new builds in the Mt. Juliet plant and field service at our customer’s site in order to assemble and install new systems as well as troubleshoot and repair units already in service.

 

The Assembler IV reports to the Assembly Supervisor and is based out of Mt. Juliet.

 

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Works from prints to assemble component parts into complex assemblies in a timely and professional fashion while maintaining the quality standards and level of excellence our customers expect.
  • Performs work that may include routine/repetitive assembly operations and processes that will range from moderately to very complicated utilizing a wide range of fixtures, equipment, and hand and power tools.
  • Operates within acceptable defect rate.
  • Uses necessary measuring instruments such as micrometer, calipers, depth micrometer, granite tables and .0001 indicators to ensure conformance. May be required to make minor adjustments to assembly practices based on quality measurements.
  • Completes necessary paperwork including routers, inspection sheets, scrap reports and non-conformances.
  • Packs and palletizes products as well as create and affix labels and tags to assemblies.
  • Performs all functions in department and willing to rotate between different cells with the Power Clamp and End Effector department.
  • Identifies when preventative maintenance is needed on assigned equipment/tools.
  • Travels to customer site to troubleshoot and repair units already in service. Traveling potentially on weekends, holidays, and up to 2 weeks at a time.
  • Communicates with engineering and/or sales to report information and measurements from the field.
  • Adapt quickly to changing environments and customer demands while maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
  • Adheres to customer safety protocols and performs lockout/tag out procedures
  • Advises supervisor of conduct that my violate rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • Prior assembly of Destaco End Effectors and/or prior field service experience required

  • Technical – Ability to read complicated blueprints and timing diagrams as well as written work instructions. Distinguish and identify proper tooling needs for assembly and testing. Use of a wide range of fixtures, equipment, hand/power tools and measuring instruments. Performs basic math including working with decimal numbers, ability to use a scale, problem solving and ability to convert metric to imperial. Understanding of air circuits, valves, shutoffs, e-stops fasteners, torque, proper thread engagement and tread lock applications. Differentiate between screw heads, metric/standard and fine/course.
  • Computer – Familiar and comfortable with the general use of Windows based applications. Able to comfortably use Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Work and Excel.

 

Education and Certification Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education required
  • Trade school preferred

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 30% of the time
  • Ability to be away from home on weekends, potentially on typical Destaco holidays
  • Ability to be away from home for up to two weeks at a time, although that will be rare. Most visits are 5 days (M-F) or less.
  • Travel may be required on typically non-workdays to be staged at a customer site at their request.
