This role will be responsible for crafting and managing product portfolio strategy, leading short and long-range planning for the Industrial business, and optimizing engineering execution within development, production, and commercialization areas.  This role will play a key role in determining business, portfolio, and product strategy, setting direction, bringing in the voice of the customer into the organization. The Director, Product Strategy and Engineering will focus on increasing market awareness and lead the product and technology strategy. The role will also  be responsible in driving engineering innovation across the business and be responsible for developing and gaining approval for new products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Product Strategy

  • Responsible for defining the Industrial product portfolio Go-To-Market strategy
  • Responsible for defining product vision, positioning, pricing, and promotion
  • Provides market and technology research and competitive analysis to progress our product and technology strategy
  • Integrates market knowledge, strategic insight and a strong user focus to help our organization create great products
  • Conducts research audits, knowledge maps, trend assessments, SWOT analyses to define scope and opportunities
  • Develops strategic frameworks that synthesize and summarize learning
  • Collaborates with VP to create action plans that are do-able and will create business impact
  • Partners with Product Managers and customers to develop a range of marketing growth strategies: customer, consumer, product, touchpoint, channel
  • Facilitates working sessions to identify questions and hypotheses to ensure our work delivers against our customers’ needs and delivers actionable insights
  • Maintains and grows customer relationships and holds sales team accountable to delivering new product development sales targets
  • Champions best practices and innovative thinking to continually improve our output

Engineering, R&D

  • Works with the sites for new product and technology development, including all development activities and Engineering projects across all biotechnology and health solutions operating sites
  • Collaborate with various functional leaders Customers and Suppliers to ensure we deliver a successful project, on time, at acceptable revenues, with zero quality defects
  • Serve as technical expert and lead technical discussions with customers on our applications to provide/improve customer satisfaction
  • Drive development of new product lines/technologies and improvement of existing product lines and best practices
  • Drive creation and maintenance of policies, procedures, engineering standards, programs, work instructions and SOP's
  • Support VP on development and deployment of strategic planning, including R&D roadmap.
  • Ensure engineering site groups are aligned to and supporting business priorities, AIPs and KPIs
  • Work with engineering leaders on strategic business priorities along with day to day activities
 
 
 

 Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; Advanced degree preferred 
  • Has deep expertise industrial pump segment, Product Management and/or Engineering
  • 7-10 years of work experience in product management and / or strategy development leadership roles
  • Knowledge of e-commerce, digital development and methodologies, application and systems management solutions, and best practices
  • Ability to manage, process and apply large quantities of information quickly and accurately to understand the big picture
  • Understands implications of trends across business & functions
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, analytical / critical thinking skills
  • Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working within software or tax compliance is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
