This position is responsible for providing sourcing & technical leadership in a cross functional team environment, which would include strategic planning, injection molding expertise, supplier selection, cost and capital management, risk assessment and mitigation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier interactions for injection molding issues including but not limited to tool design & development, tool down situations, design for manufacturability, & working through injection molding process related issues
  • Review drawings, analyze tooling, and recommend improvements to increase productivity, quality, and manufacturability
  • Assist to develop guidelines for injection mold tooling & work with Supplier Quality group to establish guidelines and procedures for qualifying injection molded components in clean & non-clean environments
  • Provide plastic injection mold knowledge regarding specific material properties and the ability to offer up recommendations and alternatives to assist in the quick mitigation of challenges that arise in the market.
  • Proactively follow and understand the global plastics market to keep business aligned and resilient to changes in prices, supply availability, obsolesce, and new technology developments.
  • Lead injection molded supplier transfers to improve quality
  • Direct efforts to prevent and resolve complex supply chain problems while mitigating risk
  • Establish and manage supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply, technology alignment, and risk mitigation
  • Comply with and help develop Sourcing & Supplier Quality procedures
  • Support the process of ISO, ASI, and other certifications deemed necessary by the business
  • Work closely with internal QA personnel to plan and execute retooled part validations using IQ, OQ, PQ methods
  • Work closely with Product Management and Continuation Engineering to integrate product requirements and design considerations into new tooling initiatives

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus in engineering discipline or 10+ years of injection mold experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with injection molded components
  • Experience in and good understanding of medical and food/beverage product certifications such as FDA, 3A, etc
  • Ability to travel internationally 20% of the time, and up to 50% during critical times.

  • Proficient computer skills and working knowledge with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Strong communication skills as well as proven experience working one-on-one with suppliers, business units, engineering, and other program sponsors.
  • Creative problem solver, able to analyze and resolve problems using initiative.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated and confident.
  • Ability to balance many tasks and to negotiate conflict.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a cross-functional team.
