The General Manager, US Aftermarket will lead and inspire an organization of 100+ commercial, operations and service professionals in a fast-paced, high-mix/low-volume environment. Reporting to the Vice President & General Manager of Advanced Compression & Sealing, the General Manager, US Aftermarket will oversee all strategic planning and execution for high-mix/low-volume sites that repair and service a wide range of highly engineered, mission-critical, machined parts and components serving the oil and gas, marine, industrial, chemical, and general processing markets. He/she will develop and implement operational strategies to drive key metrics covering revenue, operating income, safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, and inventory.

The successful candidate will also drive the ongoing adoption of digital solutions with a focus on developing organizational capabilities to support these tools. Additionally, the GM will lead enterprise operational excellence and continuous-improvement efforts, instilling a sense of urgency and rapid action with monthly operations KPI and financial report-outs.

As the leader of a high impact business unit within the organization, the GM of US Aftermarket has opportunity for a high-visibility role to senior ACS functional and P&L leadership. Demonstrated success will provide significant runway to growth opportunities across Dover Precision Components and Dover Corporation.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Increase organizational effectiveness by communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising results; developing incentives; fostering a climate for offering information and opinions; and providing professional development and educational opportunities.
  • Provide leadership to the organization’s management team with a culture of high-performance, accountability, professional development, and ethical behavior
  • Develop and deploy the strategic plan by studying commercial opportunities and aligning them to Dover Precision Components resources and capabilities; present assumptions; identify metrics; and recommend objectives to the DPC executive leadership team.
  • Lead the ongoing deployment of digital solutions, with a focus on developing organizational capabilities to support and optimize technology.
  • Champion a process and metrics-driven culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement (key KPIs include bookings, revenue, gross margin, operating profit; quality, inventory on hand and inventory turns, days sales/payables outstanding, productivity, on-time delivery, and total recordable incident rate).
  • Engage high level with top customers and key strategic partners, maximizing business opportunities for disproportionate growth. 
  • Lead monthly financial and operational reviews, tracking progress against targets and deploying countermeasures as necessary to mitigate risks.
  • Participate in corporate strategic planning and implement enterprise strategic goals and objectives at the Operating Company level.
  • Lead capital and operational planning and budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Continuously analyze production processes and components within the business to identify appropriate outsourcing opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, operations, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Ten years of operations and commercial experience in a service-oriented manufacturing environment, including seven years progressive management experience
  • Experience with manufacturing and production processes like those used in Dover Precision Components operating companies - machining, repair, and assembly.
  • Success managing in a high-mix/low-volume production environment.
  • Demonstrated success using process and metrics-driven business/operating systems to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • A successful financial management track record, including, capital and operational budgeting, and managing results against targets.
  • A proven ability to improve business performance though the effective management and development of people, from senior management to operations staff.
  • Demonstrated executive presence, with exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and an ability to clearly articulate and deliver a progressive vision, an inspiring and decisive leadership personality.
  • Superior organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of a team in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively problem-solve; experience with standard problem-solving tools (e.g., A3) strongly preferred.
  • A demonstrated commitment to integrity and the highest ethical standards.
