Under the general supervision of the CFO, this role is responsible for leading the organization's Accounting function, reporting and control/compliance environment. 



  • Establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, policies, practices, procedures, and initiatives. 
  • Provides leadership to the global accounting organization and serves as the liaison between Corporate Accounting, Shared Services and operations.
  • Prepares financial reports and presents findings and recommendations to top management. 
  • Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. 
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 
  • Develop policies, procedures, & controls to produce monthly financial statements consistent with the Dover Accounting Policy Manual & Operating Company Policy Monthly consolidation of locations.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of financial statement preparation in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
  • Establish roles and responsibilities within the Controllership team to comply with Dover and Operating Company policies.
  • Responsible for the internal control environment. Maintain current Core Internal Control (CIC) program for all locations.
  • Ensure policies and procedures exist and are being adhered to mitigating control risks. 
  • Organize resources to monitor and perform self-testing of key controls.
  • Act as lead for internal and external audits and post audit remediation activities.
  • Maintain common chart of accounts for all reporting locations.  Review access control requests to ensure compliance with segregation of duties controls. 
  • Maintain common account mapping of trial balance to Dover Reporting System.
  • Promote harmonization of Syteline ERP software package and Spreadsheet Server for global reporting and analysis needs.
  • Prepare quarterly compliance checklist disclosures, consistent with GAAP & Dover Accounting Policy.
  • Organize participation in transitioning current and acquired businesses into the Dover Business Services (DBS) shared service organization.
  • Assist with acquisition models and post-acquisition integration activities including process adoption and financial performance tracking.
  • Provide performance feedback to direct level reports. 
  • Develop annual performance objectives, including continuous improvement goals for the accounting team. Mentor and develop talent.
  • Monitor Service levels for outside shared service organizations.
  • Collaborate with shared service organizations to improve performance metrics. 
  • Liaison between business operations and shared services to promote lean business practices and to reduce transactional cost.
  • Perform balance sheet reviews, including account reconciliations and entity level control procedures. 
  • Establish general ledger account reconciliation standards and review controls consistent with Dover and Operating Company policy.
  • Conduct balance sheet review for each reporting trial balance.
  • Establish tax compliance procedures and timely reporting/filing for federal, state and local (U.S. and abroad) tax requirements.
  • Collaborate with Dover Tax department.
  • Prepare census reports and ad hoc reports related to government requests.
  • Ensure statutory filing and tax compliance for international (non US) locations. 
  • Establish necessary control procedures to validate statutory to US GAAP reconciliations are fully and timely reconciled.
  • Provide information to Corporate to support insurance, benefits, legal or statutory requests. 
  • Drive improvement in working capital metrics including DSO and DPO.
  • Establish workflows for key areas to ensure timely completion of duties to published deadlines/targets.
  • Leads and directs the work of others in the global controllership/accounting team. 
  • Manages the service levels with Dover Business Services (DBS) for outsourced accounting services.



  • High degree of confidentiality mandatory due to sensitive nature of information in area of responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to implement Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
  • An understanding of country, state and local tax requirements is necessary.
  • Acumen for dealing with payroll concepts and accuracy critical to position requirements.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Accuracy in computations critical.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.



  • Bachelors or Masters of Accountancy or equivalent degree & CPA designation required, MBA preferred. 
  • 7-10 years relevant Finance & Accounting experience required, Global experience preferred
  • Leading large teams
  • Internal and/or External Audit exposure
