The HSE Manager is responsible for administering, progressively developing and delivering systems that drive safe operating practices. This role is responsible for cultivating a productive, healthy and incident free workplace by establishing and promoting safety policies and coordinating with executives, managers and employees to perform work in accordance with procedures in compliance with regulatory Health, Safety and Environmental laws and industry standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs environmental, health and safety activities that are required by OSHA, EPA, DOT and local country/provincial/state regulations for Dover Precision Components.
  • Ensures that incident reports are completed accurately and timely, including the investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Develops and presents improvement opportunities to top management and drives activities to implement change.
  • Plans, implements, and oversees programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths and regulatory risk.
  • Develops and leads environmental, health and safety training as required by company policy and local regulation.
  • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries; works with legal counsel to prepare materials and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. 
  • Oversees 3rd party industrial hygiene studies, ergonomic evaluations, and risk management assessments where needed and works with site leaders to implement corrective or improvement actions.
  • Inspects facilities to detect existing or potential hazards and / or regulatory issues, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Partners with HR on the administration of workers' compensation program, and engages the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
  • Supports the company’s workplace drug and alcohol program.
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Oversees environmental, health and safety performance metrics; ensures that HSE records are maintained according to local regulations and company policies; evaluates key performance indicators to drive functional and business safety performance improvements.
  • Drives and contributes to the department continuous improvement culture.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all matters.
  • Job will require occasional travel to other Manufacturing locations within the region, as needed, for audit, investigations, training, and implementation of processes and procedures.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Thorough knowledge of HS&E system capabilities.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Four year college or university degree in Risk Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Health Sciences, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 or more years of relevant experience

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Risk Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Health Sciences or related field.
  • Advanced safety designations from an accredited program (CSP, COSS, CSHO, CSHS).
  • Experience in manufacturing industry
