Summary:

The North American Engineering Manager Advanced Compression & Sealing (ACS) is responsible for leading North American teams to provide leadership, supervision, and management of workflow within the departments.  The North American Engineering Manager ACS will coordinate the planning, assessment, and execution the department objectives in line with the strategic direction of the organization.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the manufacturing operations to ensure products meet quality requirements.
  • Lead and develop the engineering team in support of talent development initiatives.
  • Leads continuous improvement for ACS engineering. 
  • Responsible for departmental metrics, data analysis, and identifying trends in the metrics before they become an issue. 
  • Responsible to assure that all products meet appropriate national and international codes and standards.
  • Effectively collaborate with marketing, manufacturing, and sourcing functions on product requirements, design features, and service.
  • Effectively negotiate with engineering internal and external departments for resource allocation, changes in schedule, etc.
  • Identifies next generation opportunities within the market and relevant technology and proposes plans to exploit them.
  • Identifies new tools for productivity or improved engineering for team.  Learns use of new engineering equipment, prepare SOPs for equipment, and addresses safety issues. 
  • Drive development of a new product with clear goals for product reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability – generate customer satisfaction.
  • Establish clear product quality targets and processes to meet the quality goals.
  • Completes monthly reporting activities and prepares presentations.
  • Leads technical meetings with customers.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Design or equivalent
  • Masters or higher degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, preferred
  • Experience managing and developing engineering personnel.
  • Proven track record of execution as a manager. 
  • Capable of leading multiple teams and areas of responsibility.  
  • Skilled in data mining, evaluation, graphical representation, and interpretation.
  • Proficient in Root Cause Analysis, someone with experience as a trainer in RCA or Six Sigma is ideal.
  • Able to define steps needed to complete tasks, which may be ambiguous. Can put together detailed week-by-week improvement plans with defined metrics for illustrating improvements.
  • Able to translate strategic vision into tactical results. 
  • Ability to consistently execute to internal metrics.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment. Must be willing to travel to at least 10%.
