Job Title:        Service Technician Apprentice

Location:        Phoenix, AZ

Division:         The After Market Service (AMS) Team        

Reporting to: Service Manager

What we are looking for:

Entry level technicians eager to learn how to the diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial ice machines, HVAC equipment, and Refrigeration systems that are installed in supermarkets, convenience stores, and foodservice establishments.

What you will be responsible for in this role:

  • Basic mechanical background preferred.                             
  • Demonstrate use of power and hand tools.
  • Work on all types of HVAC and Refrigeration equipment, including electrical and energy management controllers, with Journeyman or higher lever technician until able to work on this equipment alone.
  • Ability to work on roof, outdoors, mechanical rooms, inside supermarkets, walk in coolers, and freezers, through all seasons of the year.


What are the basic qualifications?

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • HVAC technical school completion certification preferred but not required.

  • Basic computer skills
  • Good driving record and valid State Driver license
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated and a professional attitude 
  • Ability to perform the job in a safe manner
  • Must completely fill out and submit all job required work orders, forms, and documents.
  • Must adhere to all customer requirements, consistently log in and out of work order tracking system portals.
  • Ability to use laptop and smart phone.
  • Willingness and ability to travel on occasion, work overtime, holidays, nights and weekends as required by varying jobs and on call schedule.
  • Adhere to Hillphoenix safety program, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, office administration, Journeymen, Supervisors, and Managers in person, by phone and through email.       


Working Environment:

In performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee is required to stand and walk throughout the workday; climb or balance; stoop, crouch and kneel. The employee must be able to climb on ladders, roofs and on occasion in high precarious places. The employee must be able to work in outdoor conditions where temperatures can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Vision requirements include close, color and peripheral vision. Ability to work with moving mechanical parts, pressurized steam equipment, open flames, heated surfaces, liquids, and risk of electrical shock in damp, humid, or freezing conditions.

 While on jobsites, this person must adhere to OSHA safety guidelines and protocols which means this person may be required to wear personal protective devices such as but not limited to hearing and eye protection.
