Distribution Operations Manager

The Role:

In this role you will be responsible for managing and coordinating on-site activities related to warehousing and distribution within our 3rd party operations located in the Indianapolis area

You will develop plans and ensure operational execution related to activities which balance quality, cost and service. In addition, you will ensure key goals and objectives are met to drive superior planning and execution in the 3PL operation.

This is a highly cross functional role: you will partner with the 3PL and MI teams (customer service, shipping officers, Logistics route and transportation, as well as global functions to drive the implementation of new solutions).

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and manage the relationship with our 3rd party distribution partner and its local management teams, with a focus on operational efficiency, operational excellence, and cost-savings as related to our hazardous and non-hazardous materials
  • Act as company representative by coordinating day to day activities across both companies: 3 PL leadership and Markem-Imaje operational teams (Logistics route & transportation, shipping team officers, customer service) to ensure smooth and efficient operations, as well as reactive communication.
  • Supervise 3rd party warehousing and distribution services as well as driving improvements to the receiving put away, pick, pack and ship processes to ensure increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor daily performance (efficiency, service, quality, compliance…) perform root cause analysis and implement countermeasures in collaboration with the 3PL and MI team to achieve operational metrics and target objectives for the region such as operational cost and overall customer satisfaction
  • Build and lead process improvement programs to drive efficiency and improved throughput and overall improvements to our operations.
  • Audit monthly invoices to ensure accuracy, contractual adherence, and in accordance with observed activities.
  • Develop process and procedures and implement them to improve, standardize and secure day to day operations
  • Ensure the management and accuracy of our inventory as it is managed directly by our 3rd party (cycle counting, returns processing and outbound processing of orders )
  • Develop additional distribution processes and methods within our 3PL distribution centers in order to meet the future needs of the business.
  • Assist the 3PL operation in forecasting our business into detailed staffing plans
  • Assist in coordinating the scheduling of inbound containers and outbound freight in collaboration with our Logistics route team
  • Support end of month and end of quarter shipping activity during weekends, on site, to meet revenue targets.

 

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelors degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or similar discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 year’s experience in supervising distribution operations, ideally a 3rd party distribution operation, including knowledge of distribution practices and technologies which support the fulfillment process.
  • Proven experience working with systems such as Warehouse Management System (WMS) and SAP ERP
  • Six Sigma/LEAN (yellow-green belt) certification preferred.
  • Hazmat Certifications preferred
  • Proficient in understanding the mechanics of distribution and warehousing (including processes and technology) with a focus on the consumer.
  • High level understanding of Supply Chain Management processes, including multiple years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Results driven utilizing knowledge to meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs), goals and deadlines.
  • Must be able a self-starter and self-driven who can work independently with minimal direction.
  • Must be able to work in a high paced environment and be able prioritize workload.
  • Willing to travel as needed to support business operations

Work Arrangement : Onsite  

Salary Range : $71,000.00   - $106,000.00
