SUMMARY:

Lead, direct and facilitate all human resources activities to promote effective collaboration and serve as a liaison for the Company to the employees.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate, coordinate and administer the Company’s human resources programs to include wage and salary administration; employee development and training; benefits; affirmative action; and unemployment and workers’ compensation.
  • Represent the employer in unemployment and workers’ compensation hearings. 
  • Supervise Human Resources Department and provide instruction and guidance to direct reports (if applicable). 
  • Review employee relations laws and policies to ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing employment.
  • Coordinate and conduct search activities to recruit management, supervisory, administrative and staff personnel. 
  • Supervise staffing activities to include advertising, interviewing, selection, orientation, transfer, promotion, layoff, recall, termination, etc. 
  • Facilitate and manage the department’s operating procedures and policies, record keeping systems, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager in the formulation of short- and long-term objectives and goals, manpower forecasts, organizational analysis, etc. 
  • Compile and complete all required and necessary reports and records. 
  • Provide counsel and guidance to managers and supervisor regarding human resources issues, questions or concerns.
  • Analyze workforce problems and recommend or develop training programs. 
  • Revise and update handbook and policies.
  • Educate employees regarding benefit eligibility, enrollment and coverage options.
  • Counsel personnel on employee relation matters.
  • Manage and communicate timelines regarding personal development; annual reviews and merit increases. 
  • Review and update job description, training records, onboarding documents and salary ranges.
  • Manage all employee personnel files (electronically)
  • Facilitate tickets through the payroll system for amendments and corrections to payroll.
  • Provide headcount reporting to leadership
  • Collaborate with the EHS Coordinator for effective safety culture and training.
  • Schedule meetings and/or on-site lunches/
  • Assist in planning extracurricular activities for employees, i.e. – holiday parties, safety lunches/dinners, sales meetings, etc.
  • Dedicate at least 30% of time to regularly visiting the shop floor employees.
  • Other duties not assigned.   

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, or related field required.
  • Seven to ten years of human resource experience including but not limited to: employee relations, wage and salary administration, training, benefits, safety, administration, training, benefits, safety, affirmative action and working knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to labor, employment and human resources.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Progressive knowledge of human resources policies and procedures and application in the day to day working environment is critical to the success of the position.  Advice and counsel given supervisors and managers must be consistent with the human resources philosophy and policies established within Dover Precision Components.  The Human Resources Manager is expected to engage with the employees to assist in problem solving and assessing the work force.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

SAFETY:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.   All personal protective equipment issued must be worn while on the shop floor.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
