Production Planner

Dover Precision Components is hiring a Planner for our Inpro/Seal business. WHAT YOU’LL DO

Are you an experienced manufacturing planner? If so, we’d love to hear from you! In this role, you will take ownership of scheduling production efficiently across multiple value streams. The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills (including Pivot Tables), ERP system experience, and production planning experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


This role requires an analytical thinker who can quickly assess operations, material availability, and production capacity to create an optimal schedule. The Production Planner will collaborate closely with production supervisors, buyers, and material supervisors to ensure smooth operations, minimize lead times, and enhance overall efficiency. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Analyze part number operations requirements, material availability, and work in progress to develop an optimized production schedule by value stream.
  • Plan for multiple CNC, manual machining, and final assembly steps, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Work closely with production supervisors to ensure the shop floor follows the planned schedule.
  • Respond quickly to sales team inquiries about lead times and provide realistic, data-driven estimates.
  • Think outside the box to identify and implement process improvements in the planning workflow.
  • Collaborate directly with buyers to align material availability with production schedules.
  • Work with material supervisors to ensure inventory levels support production needs.
  • Provide the plant capacity, working alongside operations and production leaders, to balance workload effectively.
  • Regularly walk the shop floor to monitor progress, troubleshoot scheduling issues, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Take full accountability for how planning decisions impact lead times and overall efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures—safety is a top priority.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to support overall company success.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing and/or demand planning with capacity and production scheduling background.
  • Experience with ERP systems, such as Syteline or SAP and procurement workflows.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data analysis, and data visualization).
  • Proactive and adaptable mindset, able to anticipate production challenges and address. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities, including logistics and material planning.
  • Ability to handle multiple value streams and a variety of machining/assembly processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Understanding of inventory control strategies, including JIT (Just-in-Time) and Kanban.
  • Ability to analyze production constraints, bottlenecks, and efficiency gaps.
  • Familiarity with MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems and lead time analysis.
  • Experience working with shop floor control systems and understanding how to track production progress.
  • Demonstrates excellent attention to detail while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Team-oriented approach, working collaboratively across departments.
  • Initiative to drive continuous improvement in scheduling and planning processes.
  • Resilience under pressure, maintaining efficiency and accuracy in a high-demand environment.

 

 

ALSO GREAT IF YOU BRING/ PREFERENCES

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field.
  • Experience with 5S, Kanban, and lean supply chain practices in operations.

 

 

Salary depends on qualifications and background with a targeted range of $70,000- $80,000. This is a bonus eligible position with a full range of benefits.
