Position Summary:
 

The Senior Product Design Engineer role will be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing mechanical systems and components in support of our company’s products, which focus on monitoring and control solutions for industrial applications.  The role requires strong proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, and a strong understanding of mechanical design principles with an emphasis on combustion engines and automotive design. The ideal candidate will design fuel system components for natural gas engines, including throttles, mixers, and associated housings and adapters. The position will collaborate with a team of application engineers, design drafters, and embedded developers. The role will report to the Director, Engineering and Product Management and will be based in the Rosenberg, TX office.  

 

 

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems with a focus on combustion engines and automotive systems.
  • Lead the development and improvements of mechanical systems and components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs with electronic systems and software. 
  • Conduct simulations and stress testing of new product designs.
  • Provide expert analysis and technical guidance in area of expertise.
  • Prepare detailed documentation and reports on design processes, analyses, and results.
  • Perform reverse engineering on parts as needed to support ongoing projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead design review sessions.

 

Responsibilities:Minimum required qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency with CAD software and simulation tools, with proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and practices.
  • Strong Design for Manufacture skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail and the ability to think creatively to overcome design challenges.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.

 

The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, skills, and abilities:

  • Professional Engineer designation a plus.
  • Prior experience in a similar role or industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Willingness to stay current with industry trends and best practices in mechanical design.
