The Technical Support  Engineer I serves as a frontline resource for troubleshooting FW Murphy products, providing support to customers, OEMs, packagers, and internal departments. This role involves diagnosing equipment issues remotely, simulating system behavior, and guiding customers through solutions. It’s a technical position focused on delivering outstanding service and internal collaboration, with occasional training responsibilities and opportunities to grow technical depth in control and instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide font-line technical support to customers and partners via phone, email, and virtual platforms.
  • Troubleshoot customer-reported issues related to FW Murphy products including controllers, HMI, AFRs, EICS, and IoT systems.
  • Use simulation tools and diagnostic methods to replicate issues and identify solutions.
  • Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and customer interactions thoroughly for internal knowledge sharing.
  • Assist in internal product testing and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical input to internal teams including Engineering, Product Management, and Quality.
  • Occasionally deliver or support training sessions for internal staff or external customers.
  • Participate in an after-hours technical support rotation as needed.
  • Support new product rollouts by learning key functionality and documenting support processes.
  • Additional duties or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience required; Bachelors degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in technical support, instrumentation, or control systems preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort with diagnosing complex hardware/software systems.
  • Familiarity with FW Murphy systems or similar industrial control products.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple support requests.
