Continuation Engineer – BIO/MED

Job Summary

The Continuation Engineering team is responsible for the continuous improvement and daily maintenance of existing products, creating and maintaining engineering CAD models, drawings and specifications, executing and managing the Engineering Change Order process, evaluating and addressing product performance issues, and providing diverse engineering support to both internal and external customers. 


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Provide sustaining engineering support services for existing/released biopharm/medical product lines
  • Serve as the engineering subject matter expert supporting the Bio business unit.
  • Initiate and execute engineering change orders, including CAD model/drawing creation and modification
  • Manage product structures/BOMs in ERP system
  • Maintain engineering standards and specifications; create and update specifications as required
  • Represent CPC Engineering in quality surveillance audits as required
  • Respond to design–related CAPAs
  • Author new procedures and work instructions to support Continuous Improvement culture
  • Provide technical support to subcontractors, customers, as well as a wide array of internal customers including:  Sales, QA, Marketing, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling, Purchasing, and Design/R&D Engineering
    Required Job Qualifications
  • Proficiency in solid modeling and creation of detailed drawings in CAD
  • Working knowledge of injection molded thermoplastic components, mold design and the influence of molding process parameters
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude
  • Innate technical ability and curiosity  
  • Ability to apply sound engineering logic to solve complex problems, to properly assess risks, and make decisions accordingly
  • Ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in cross-functional teams
  • Strong but respectful verbal communication style



Preferred Job Qualifications/Experience

  • Advanced modeling capabilities using PTC Creo/Windchill CAD
  • Working knowledge of plastics joining technologies
  • Design of fluid handling components for bioprocessing or life sciences applications
  • ISO 13485 and the creation of supporting SOPs
  • Aseptic devices and/or sterilization methods
  • Cleanroom and/or controlled environment manufacturing
  • Technical writing
  • Product and component validation using IQ/OQ/PQ

Required Education and/or Experience

  • BS in Engineering discipline

Minimum of 3 years related work experience

Travel Requirement

  • Typically less than 10%, both international and domestic
